Some beginner Feroza Q's...

Post by De-lux »

g'day all,

I have just bought an '88 Feroza (DX pov pack) for the girlfriend and I have a few questions requiring your expertise.

1. How hard is it to adapt a power steering conversion to these little beasts?
2. The engine has done 300,000 kms - is there anything to look out for at this age, aside from the usual?
3. It needs new tyres soon - I'll be keeping my eye on ebay etc for tyre / rim cobos. Is there a stud pattern that is inter-changeable with these (e.g. zook etc)?

Probably have more questions soon too...

1. Most Ferozas came with power steer - so a wrecker will be able to supply. Will all bolt in/on

2. 300,000....... well done - average seems to be about 200,000+ i'd have said it would be totally worn out but there you go. With an engine of that age just about any moving part could be an issue but the obvious one is the exhaust Lambda probe ( manufacturers life 140,000 ).

3. Suzuki, some F100's
( usual disclaimers )

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

haha right. Thanks mightymouse. I might make some calls to some wreckers.

Regarding the engine making 300k, I suspect it has had some work due to an accident or something. It seems to have a new head gasket, thermostat and some new ancillaries (brake booster, cables and wires etc). This might even be a second engine!
