Wires into 1.3 Gearbox Question

Guys - are the two wires going into my manual gearbox a speedo and reverse light wire??

I have dropped the box out and pulled the front wire out at where it goes into the socket.

The maunals dont seem to point out what they are!

Any suggestions??

one is rev light.
one (sometimes 2) are connected to pollution gear, 4th and/or 5th gear.
should work ok without it, but illegal and less economical.
