custom ones aren't necessarily illegal just needs to meet legal requirements. Speak to a reputable fabricator and you should be fine

Boof had one that was legal, ask him what the requirements are, or what he had to change/alter to have it legal.

go on QLD DOT site and download there pdf files on all vehicle standards it has all the info u need on legality of everything, If you have they time read as much of it as you can. I used part of it to avoid a defect once, theres a bit in there about aftermarket suspension arms not needing adr stamps as long as bla bla bla.

after just doing abit of search as im waiting on a highmount one of these to get made. the biggest poblems seems to be in the ADRs about pedestrian impact and not being angled as to push some one under as to over the oncoming car. theres also all the lighting rules to go with it.

your recovery eyes would be considered 'protrusions'.

it passed engineering and inspecting here and no one mentioned that... plus the eyes are part of the mounting system of the bar to the chassis =)

You would get pinned for it here in Qld.

IMO the XROX bars look cheap and nasty, but are not cheap. I cannot see the design providing any more protection then a coke can with cable ties.

Someone with some real data feel free to correct me but I think a slight hit on the wing will bend the mounting plate and more then likely damage the chassis rail.

X2 nasty.

it states on thier web page that they provide excellent impact protection, but i doubt this very much. nothing much will happen to the tubes, instead all the load will be on the three mounting bolts for each wing, it will bend easily enough. on some of the photos they have it appears that the top tube angles forward, and as far as i know this does not meet regulatory/ design rules.

and yes, those recovery eyes would get pinged here in vic also.

I have an Xroc bar on my lux and yes they are legal. I believe You can have a custom bar on the lux's and keep them legal, i think it could be done if you use the original crush selves and/or the mounting brackets from like an arb bar or original bar maybe

Check my thread here for more info on the XROX bar... http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic195 ... light=xrox

I have the very first one fitted to a 120series as it was designed off our Prado.

I was after a bar that looked more aggressive for MUMSRIG and wasn't what everyone else had.

I like to be different and love the look ofthe XROX. I looked at their design and manufacturing process and was very impressed with Outback Accessories professionalism and their service was 2nd to none!

Best of all the bar is engineered to be legal and is also independantly tested in SA for airbag compliance. Best of both worlds.

Yeah, I have spotties protruding etc so realistically I could get done be the cops if they wanted to ping me, but hey...that's my choice! The bar itself, is legal!

but how do you explain the top tube not meeting current regulations? it tilts forward, when it MUST tilt back.

One word.... Engineered.... ;)

Anything can be made legal as long as an engineer is willing to sign it off.
