my bro in law has just brought a 04 navara duel cab with ifs, hes talking about lifting it and trying to make it a tuff off roader, how much can he do to it to make it a tuff truck or has he brought the wrong car, i thought he should of got a patrol with sold axles

not sure its a 3ltr desiel, how hi can it be lifted?

its D22 with the infamous ZD30 motor.

basic lift, add a extra rear leaf or change rear leaves and adjust torsions to suit, which is fairly common as they are soft as butter and probably sagging already.

theres 3"+ kits which involve changing front arms etc.
max height ?? how fat is your wallet ;)

on that navara site a few guys have SFA conversions.
one problem is they stretch transfer chains. there is stronger ones around tho.
IFS front diff is quite weak but you can swap in a stronger diff.
crawlers gears are available.

certainly patrols are an easier base to work from. everything is stronger on them.
