different compressor heads and different guages (doesnt mean that they werent made by the same company though and its like comparing a gq patrol to a maverick)

well for starters the second one is SCA (super cr@p auto) so i wouldnt go anywere near it. i bought a shovel from them and they managed to f@ck that up (it bend in half on the first go in sand) which is beyond me haha. and the second one has no brand so i wouldnt go there either. my aadvise is to spend that little bit extra and get something u know will last adn b reliable everytime.
cheers

Yes, shell out the loot and get ARB or equivalent, no good trying to limp home with less than 15psi of air in the treads cause you dont have a compressor or its out of action, i wrote my ute off doing just that.
Had i have had a compressor id still have the ute and 15grand more in my account
Thankfully the new model ARB compressor is quite good - takes about 2 minutes to inflate a 33x12.5x15 from 15 psi to 32 psi. The only problem with it is that the thread for the air locker hose outlet wasn't tapped properly into the aluminium manifold and it was difficult to get it to seal properly. Still holds enough pressure to keep the air locker on for about 15 minutes without the compressor turning back on. I also have one of those Bushranger $99 jobs and whilst it is a bit slow is seems to be able to run continuously without overheating and gives the impression of being more reliable than a cheapie.
Most of the China factories are happy to just rebrand/sticker up the 1 product to anything you want for free as long as you buy the right amounts of said product.
It's kinder funny as some of these companies can send you 40,000 of these pumps in 3 days from China to Australia yet say they are very sorry that the transporting is slow and can't do much about it.
And of cause the more you buy the cheaper they become say 1 unit is $10 of you buy 40,000 each unit might become $1 each, so you can see why there' might be 1 pump but 5 different stickers on the 1 pump.

I'm yet to see any name brand compressor achieve this, and I've seen a lot of them...
The current ARB does offroad to road pressures in 35's and 33's in that time for me.
my arb - current model. will get me to a drivable road pressure for 33's in 2 min but it wouldnt be 35 psi, maybe 30. to get right up to pressure take a fair bit longer.

+1
but also you get to pick and choose what parts go on it ie what head, what hose, fittings, gauge etc. but also i think theres usually grades of quality to choose from too.
So where does the ARB one originate from??? China Perhaps???
While I appreciate that the ARB comrpessor is of better quality, its it really 10X better, or whateva the cost difference is. Im not buying it to pump tyres up, and If i used it to pump one up it would only be an amergency and thus time is not realy important.
I remember reading the specs on the early ARB compressors and they were pretty dismal TBH.
The Box-Kite Paj: Gone...
Now: 96 TDI Disco, 2" Lift, 265's and a leaky windscreen...
You want speed, you need either one of them massive units called Boss or Big Red or somethin, or an Endless Air type setup that uses an aircon compressor.
Personally I use the new ARB compressor, only because i got it for free, and its treated me fine. Goes from 4psi offroad pressure to 15-20psi onroad in no time at all on my 31's.

I have their new model, and they are made OR assembled in Oz. The compressor airs up my 31's from beach pressure in under 10 mins.

ARB compressors are Australian. The early ARB compressors were dismal, but they have nothing in common with the current compressor apart from the name. I would also say that the ARB is more than 10 x better than a compressor which is 1/10th the price.
If it is for 1 tyre in an emergency and you have all of the time in the world then just get a 20 dollar compressor from Supercheap - it'll do the trick... mind you, you pay your money and you make your choice, so you may not get more than 1 or 2 tyres out of it..

Boss stats say they are fast. The Big Red is nothing special. The twin tongue is very fast!
+1 for the ARB CKMA12 compressor. I initially bought a Projecta compressor, first time in the bush it wouldn't even air up my 33s from 15psi...thing was fawked straight out of the box. Learnt my lesson and bought the ARB compressor, was a good investment and pumps up my 35s to road pressure no problems.

Which Projecta was it? Because I've been using a Projecta Typhoon (twin head) for a while now and it pumps up my 35x12.5x15's (which hold a fair old volume of air) from 12 to 30psi in 2 & 1/2 minutes each. Usually someone else in our group without a compressor will then use it straight after too. Seems to be a surprisingly good unit.
