Mass flow rate of coolant through landcruiser heater??

Post by djroberts »

Hi, does anybody have any idea as to how to calculate mass flow rate through the vehicles heater?? I believe the system runs at arround 15psi and the i know the pipe diameter but am struggling to calculate the mass flow rate?

i am designing a heat exchanger for hot water and need to work out the length and diameter of tube to make the coil. i can calculate the heat transfer ok but i dont know how to go about getting the flow rate??

any assistance would be great, cheers, Dave.

Is this for the in-car percolator?

Pull a heater hose off and see how quick it comes out

Because it's water, mass flow (kg) = volume flow (litres).

The 15psi cap pressure has no bearing on flow. It's just there to push the boiling point higher.

Hire a flow meter and put it in the line.
Flow may vary according to req temp in cab if thats how it is controlled?
