Bought some new tyres today. PICS ADDED
Finally decided on the new treads for the paj today. Ended up with a set of 35x13.50x16 Baja Claws. Tried a set on the car and they were spot on. Although they are 13.5 wide, its only that width at the lugs. Its really only a 12.50 accross the centre. They stick about 1mm out of the guards (not noticeable). 35's fitted with no worries at all, no rubbing or hitting.
Also tried a set of 35/10.5 simex pedes. Great tyres but not fussed on the narrowness. With the claws being a street legal boas ply tire, i am more than happy with the choice.
Waiting for the new ones to arrive next week, so will post pics then.

To be honest I'm not a huge rap for the Claws not bad on rocks and dry stuff but the Simex's cream them in the slop.
But the Claws are way better on the road though.
100% correct
I have noticed the claws just fill up into a slick in vic mud conditions.
The simex always have the outer lugs unless the mud is insane.
Makes a huge difference coming down hill the most where you can't spin them to get rid of the mud.
Still a nice tyre.
Did you look at the 35" radial claw?
It looks bigger and seems the voids are wider.
Are the bias ply claws actually street legal?
I thought simex were the only really aggressive approved tyres.
cheers

Bias claws are street legal in qld. I dont tend to do much work in the mud. Mainly dry, rocky stuff. Had radial claws on my old paj as roadys, and had bias claws on my suzuki. Never had any dramas with em. Would have bought simex if they made a 35/12.50/16 or 34/12.50/16.
With most of my 4wding about 200kms away from home, roadability was also in the back of my mind.
Ill give em a test over easter and see how they fair up.

That is sweet. I am not a huge fan of claws, but how can you disagree with 35's.
I have concidered going to 35's this summer. We will have to see.
I would be going with 35x12.50 mts, because the last set of tires have been real good to me. Maybe a set of beadlocks too.

What year is your rig? My understanding is that 95's in the us, your 94's came with an additional 1 inch body lift stock.
So these fit with a 2 inch lift, or a 3 inch?
35's are my goal by the end of my summer. 35x12.50 mtrs on bead locks, 5.29's, and a set of 33 at's for daily driving.

Doug,
Its a 12/1998. I think you guys call them a gen 2.5? Has the flared puffed guards as opposed to the plastic bolt on jobbies. From the factory it sits 40mm higher plus my 50mm body lift plus my 50mm spring lift. 35/13.50's fit with no hassles at all.
I was thinking of a set of internal beadlocks, to stay street legal, but apparantly are no good for alloy rims. Not that i want to drill through them anyways.
