Re
Just a question. No malace intended but is this really worth it? I can see the point on a comp rig trying to get every inch of clearence possible but for a weekend warrior like myself should I even waste my life. How much extra clearence do u get and is it possible that this may damage the diff having less capacity to hold/cool diff oil? Again I'm not being a downer I'm just curious of the actual benefits.

Definately not worth the hassle.
For a Truck used for heavy duty comps, then yeh every bit helps.
If you want more diff clearance for an every day truck, put 2 inch bigger tyres on it.

On my old Comp truck i hade both front and back done, i think it was about 20-25mm additional clearance you gain, i also did the H260 and it was about the same gain.
As mentioned probably not worth it on a recreational driver as you lose your drain hole so most guys wont wont that.
For a Comp truck you would be mad not to do it.

i can't see why you wouldn't do it for a daily driver if it didn't cause an oil supply issue inside the diff. im guessing oil would need to be changed more regularly as it would not last quite as long, perhaps a sump of some description could be added to the design - have seen these on jeep diffs where the owner wanted more oil capacity but the diff kept pumping it out the breather, so made like an expansion cylinder and this allowed the oil to circulate in the diff and chamber without the need for pumps etc.
Mind you I have only formed this opinion rather recently as my Jeep on 33"s has more or less the same diff clearance as a mates Patrol on 35"s. This is due to the Jeep's little diffs. And I do have to say that it has been a good thing to have the clearance in quite a few places. Depends on your terrain I guess but if I ever moved back to a patrol it would be something I'd consider as it would reduce the requirement for big tyres (which is becoming an issue in QLD).
comes down to what want from it i guess.
