Well I have decided to put an exo cage on my truck, but I am buggered if I can decide on how I want to do it.
I have seen some great ones , but I can't remember where abouts.
Anyone got any pics of some good ones.....

Dale from 2dextreme fabrication is starting on my GQ dual cab next week.
I had a choice of but millions of ways you could do it.
I wanted mine removable (for repair work & painting) spot light supports just above the windscreen (it drops your lights about 5"lower than tray hoop)
with a lights protecter bar over them.
Dale said he could weld a plate to the "A" piller to bolt off or we cut straight threw the "A" piller (hole saw) sleve & weld to the rollcage, then bolt to that.
to rhe roll cage will be stronger.
other work he is doing to it is:-
# comp style bullbar (for high mnt winch)
# rock sliders.
# rear bar with swing out wheel holder(to suit cut quarters).
# internal 6 point roll cage.
# "A"piller gutter & roof rails.
# ute tub side slider rails.
His work is well priced,great quality & has been comp proven on many rigs in EXTREME situations... & his drop arms are bullet proof

that looks flash ash nice tight fit
Can be pulled off on a single cab a bit easier i think.On a full size gq you end up with alot of barwork going everywhere.
Do like the roofrails,pillars being tied in through to the internal cage.looks neat

sierra truggy,37 sticky treps,propane,6.5s and disconnect,lux diffs with spools,16" fox shox,hydro steer.
If you can tell from the photo I cut into my front pillars and welded a piece of 48mm tube. And with the roof bars I sandwiched 4 lots of flat plate to the roof and then joined them to the internal roll cage making sure you have got head room. By doing it this way you get full welds, very neat finish and strong as.

bit of an old thread guys but just want to know if anyone has had problems with roadworthys once they have done the roof bars??
obviously once you put a hole in the a pillar to connect to the internal cage it makes it unroadworthy?
i kno some guys use these to go local wheeling as well as comp trucks i dont want to go to the point where if i get a canary i am stuffed and need a new cab to get past it.

G'day harb. I think u can still make an Exo look brilliant on a duely but it will take some work to make it function properly. All the horizontals on the roof will be easy but youl need a vertical support somehwere in the middle which will be ur biggest issue. If u still want the function of ur rear doors youl either need to make this support removeable or youl need to send it down through the roof at the B pillar. Without a support somewhere in the middle of the horizontal roof bar it will fold up like a tissue on roll over. And if u are to make it a removable brace please don't do what alot of mass produces do to attatch their shyt brush bars and use a fence connector commonly found on chain link fences built from gal tube. They fail easily. Good luck mate im keen to see how u go.

to make the cage removable what type of ways can it be done??.. just have pipe slide into another with 2 bolts??is that the best?

Here are 2 ideas I had so it would be flush. The second pic would be better as it wouldn't rely on the bolts to hold the force of the cage. It would mean getting some solid steel machined to match and then welding it in place. Then using hex bolts to secure it in place. Wouldn't be too hard to do. This is how I would do a butt or 'T' join. Use a slightly bigger piece of tube for the cap plate then weld in threaded crush tubes.
