80series shutter please help
Iv got a 80sereies cruiser with 6" springs and 35" claws after a Lil play out at Logan yesterday I was driving home and at about 70-80kms the whole car got the shakes real bad had to pull over had a look over couldn't see anything wrong or loose thought mite just hit a pothole and threw it off balance so kept goin happened again another few hundred mts Down road. Pulled over again had another look and kept driving it made the rest of the 20min trip fine just it's normal sway and shakes. Could anyone please offer any advice about this as I have a Easter trip all planned and booked, also I should mention that it was in 2wd at the time and has a part time kit so diff was unlocked and had no drive to it also has a front mech lokka. Hope someone can point me in right direction thanks guys nd gals!
Sounds like bushes, get under ya truck and check all ya bushes, bung a long leaver in there to see if there torn or busted. failling that check ya swivel hubs ya may have done a bearing.. also take ya stearing damper off and check for free play it may also be worn, this may fix it but might also cover a problem..
Hope this helps.

alot of 80s will wobble a bit around 70-80 depending on the tyre size (bigger tyre makes it wobble at a faster speed)
check to see if you lost any weights off the rims or if you have alot of mud caked in there. that can throw the balance right off
What was the steering like before you went out? Did you have shakes at any speed, or any tramlining/wandering?

The worst part about being told you have Alzheimer's, is that it doesn't just happen once.
Double check the radius arm bolts since they've been undone recently. They need to be tight. 127foot pounds to be precise. That means a tough breaker bar, and extension and your whole body weight. Or a rattle gun, but don't over tighten them.dirtylux01 wrote:Hey, thanks everyone. Had front radius arm bushes replaced about 2 weeks alot of helpful information I'll give it all a good clean and look over this arvo
