Hi i am building a jeep rocsta to tackle tough truck next year.
Is there any off the shelf kits that will help me bolt up some dual tyred dana 70s i believe my stock diffs are 60s so i need to upgrade to a stronger diff and hear the 70s are the go.
I was thinking about joining a stock TJ wrangler transfer to a jk rubi transfer with a stak or atlas behind that do you reccoment the stak or atlas as a better choice?
I am looking at converting coils to leaf springs as i think it will be better for a tough truck style comp rig what do you think?
I managed to pick up some awesome bride racing seats from japan and a momo wheel for the interior so thats covered.
On the 70s can i run 4 40inch boggers on each axle safely or do i need to go bigger.
This is my first project 4wd so any advice would be appreciated.

I have been researching for many months now and have spoken to an expert named colin about it who was telling me about the diffs and transfer case options.
I have not looked at the suspension much yet just pics of lots of top trucks in united states running leaf springs.
Is it the leaf springs you say are not good option? as other ideas are from jeep expert as advised on forums.

Maybe eight 60 series leafs on each side with some 9 inch shackles..
I'd fit an atlas and a stak, just to be sure.

maybe you should drop an ls7 in there just to be sure you can push those 44's and why not add a few turbo's aswel..
would be a good idea to put one of them turbo whistles on your exhaust aswell, ive heard they put an instant 10hp on your car if you plus all that and a transformers badge then you'd easily be pulling 2000hp+

The LS9 would probably work well. Lots of bottom end. 6.2 litre supercharged from the factory making about 640hp before tweaking. That'll spin up the 44's.
Back it with an AWD 6L90E
Piss off the AWD transfer and replace it with an Atlas 10.34:1. Thats gets rid of the multitransfers
I would run this axle - of course with ends on it. I think it may be out of a John Deere Gator.
And then I would run the biggest uni joints in the propshafts that I could find.

I don't think the stock motor would have enough power to turn all of those gearboxs, let alone turn the tyres on the end of them.big_slart wrote:I was hoping with the torque reduction of the mated transfers i would be able to use the stock engine.
If that didnt work i have done some measurements and could squeeze in a rover 3.5 v8 all alloy so nice and light.

After more research I am seriously looking at the rover v8 or a 20b turbo I will speak to collin today and my engine builder about this to see what is the best option.
Last night I was looking at tyres and am thinking of not going boggers as there will probably be very little mud driving and may possibly go some sticky treps.
I sent off a request to walker evans last night to enquire about getting some custom rims to suit the twin tyre arrangement on the rear 70, but looks like I cant get a twin tyres 70 steering axle so may stick with the stock 60 and toughen it up a bit it has been suggested solid are the people to talk to about this upgrade.
Cant wait to get this build happening and start buying some parts.

Good work big_slart. With the scope of your mods you should definately get in contact with the MGOC. I'm sure it will be right up there back alley way. They realy are the wheeling revolution in this jeep thing, even have thier own language.

I love those quick change uni joints, also dump the fuel injection crap and just fit tripple webbers and a 13B cam to the LS9, and if you are experiencing problems with burning the valves I'd run red slurpee injection. All the serious rigs nowdays are running 10 speed Shimano derailer transfer cases and unlimited slip diffs and dually 9.00x16'sSlunnie wrote:The LS9 would probably work well.
