Anyone ever used the $50 eBay Birfields / CV's ?

Anyone ever used the $50 eBay Birfields / CV's ?
Just wondering if anyone has ever used the eBay Birfields you see for $50 ?
I need some new ones for my 70 series Cruiser.
I can get
eBay - $50
Repco - $102.50
Terrain Tammer - $110
Toyota - $512
I tried Longfields but they don't do axles to suit and won't warrant their CV's without their axles.
Any other options / suggestions ?
It runs a turbo 3B with lockers on 35's so not a huge power plant

Apparently a 40 series super set will work in a 70 housing, as theyre near the same width..

Ah yeah no I asked about them. I have factory locker so need a long spline on the inner axles which they don't make.vk7ybi wrote:http://www.longfieldsuperaxles.com/prod ... 52d60.html

the cheap ones are Chinese quality and You'll shatter them first trip out.
I went through 3 Chinese ones before i wised up and bought Japanese made Cv's.
Im only running 33s on a 60 series with a stock 2h
and when i shattered them it was on easy hills when i wasn't lifting wheel or close to spinning wheels.
Since going to Japanese ones i haven't done a cv and I've done tougher tracks and given them more abuse

Have you been having CV problems? You can fit Longfields to standard axels. Since you have a difficult to obtain inner axel though I would prefer to use genuine stock CV's and have them as a "fuse"
Or get custom axels made to suit longs with the longer spline

I havent used them but i have sold a nissan diff to a guy that did and had to cut the knuckle off to get it back out. It was 2 hours old and he was running 32's
I have also seen a few 80 series ones die very fast.
FWIW id use a 300k old full time 80 cv over a new ebay cv

I have a 50 dollar CV turning 35's and a turbo'ed 80 series for the past year, driving the vehicle hard without any issuespopeyehj60 wrote:the cheap ones are Chinese quality and You'll shatter them first trip out.

Tried running the cheap repco cv's and kept having them sieze up, although they covered them under warranty it happened twice and then i never installed the 2nd replacement... only a cheap spare...
3.0L turbo diesel, 4" lift, bud's front housing, track assasin cv's, air lokker front + Rear, beadlock'd 37 stickies, high steer, 15.5" travel ranchos, high pinion diff and coils on the rear
I had the same, when the $50 dollar CV blew, it took out around $350-400 worth of other parts.STUMPY wrote:I have a 50 dollar CV turning 35's and a turbo'ed 80 series for the past year, driving the vehicle hard without any issuespopeyehj60 wrote:the cheap ones are Chinese quality and You'll shatter them first trip out.

Go for NTN or other Japanese made CV
Are you sure ?bj on roids wrote:Get the longfields, you can get the axles.
Even the long spline ones.
I sent Longfield and email and :
hi
only the birfields will fit. they are the 27 spline and they are $205.00 each. the inner hub gears are $130.00 for a pair and the shipping is about $140.00
thanks

I would have thought they would fit based on that fact they do a long spline but Terra tells me they won't.
Did you ask about 70 series stuff? If you did they will have no idea. Ask about late 40 series parts. As previously posted here is the link to the long spline inner shaft for a 40 series

Yeah but that don't work for factory lockers.hillbilliywheelchair wrote:http://locktup4x4.com.au/landcruiser-86 ... s-781.html

Hi,
just as I hit send, I remembered about the long spline inner
required for the e-lockers. So the Dirty 30's won't suit.
....
Cheers

I feel like we are all hitting our heads against a brick wall. We have given you all the answers you need, now go do something about it.
If you are having CV problems get longs, if not, get factory new/used c'vs and be done with it.

30 spline super set in my 40 no issues, apart from Marin broke the long side axle at Vic Winch 09. It had been in there 5 Vic Winches an Ateco and an Alpine, not to mention countless hard trips. Bobby Long still covered it with warrenty.hulsty wrote:SteelArt wrote:Yeah but are the CV's the same ?hulsty wrote:no axels are differentSteelArt wrote:are they the same as Hilux ones ?

Then people keep telling me to use Longfields or Dirty 30's and I have spoken to both Chris at Locked Up and Terra who both tell me I can not get their product with axles to suit my front diff.
I don't see how any of that is hitting heads agaisnt brick wall, unless you are telling me you know better than those who sell the product you are telling me to buy ?
I have longfields in my 40 series without issue but if they don't make them to suit the 70 series diff with cable locker than it really isn't an option then is it ?
So back to the last question are the Hilux CV's the same as the Cruiser ones ?
Longs do a long spline to suit cable lockers listed for the 40 series a link that was posted before.
Pretty sure the 70 and 40 series are the same length axle. The reason longs do one for the 40 that never came with cable lockes is the yanks rob them from the 60/62 series and use them in the 40, they just don't have the 70 there.
