noisy lifters after replacement
Moderator: -Scott-
I've had persistent lifter noises ever since I blew a head gasket and the oil turned to caramel. I've changed the oil three times since then and each time it's progressively better. This last oil change I think I've cracked it:
Warmed up the engine to operating temp.
Added in some of that oil flush additive and idled for 15 mins.
Dropped the oil while it was still as hot as possible.
Changed the filter.
Put thicker oil in this time: 20W-50.
Added new type of additive: MBL8: http://www.fueloiltreatments.com.au/Tec ... itive.html
Drove around for 30 mins.
No more lifter noises. I guess you could say it's 'in remission', since I just don't think it's possible to cure this problem.
