Asking on behalf of a mate at work, who had his 94 1HD-T 80 series drop a big end bearing, and is now looking at fitting a reco long block and getting the pump and turbo redone too.
Will the 1HD-FT fit into the same hole as a 1HD-T left? I know the blocks are the same, but is there any differences to the heads that will affect things? Like needing new injectors, manifold etc.
And is there any advantage to fitting the 24 valve head engine? prices for reco engines seem very similar between the two.
Cheers in advance guys!

yes, the injectin pump and injectors are different, ie they run different pressures etc. as far as physical fit, I think they are interchangeable but not 100% certain.
Im not sure about the manifolds, 1hd-t is 2valve, HD-FT is 4valve, so I would be suprised if the manifolds were the same
the HD-FT puts out more grunt

you cant swap anything....you could buy a complete hdfte and put the pump and timing gears in it from the hdt using hdft injecters...but for the dicking around, you might aswell put the hdfte from a 79 in it and wire it up....more power again....see if uu can get a complete hdft...you wont
Confucious say...man who argue with idiot, worserer himself
And you've got bucklies finding a HDFT in bits, I've been searching for ages.dow50r wrote:you cant swap anything....you could buy a complete hdfte and put the pump and timing gears in it from the hdt using hdft injecters...but for the dicking around, you might aswell put the hdfte from a 79 in it and wire it up....more power again....see if uu can get a complete hdft...you wont
