Hey buddy,

hj60 cruisers came with a 4 speed in the earlier model before the switch to 5 speed,

They also came in auto

Or you can fairy overdrive your 4 speed.

Make sure you double check the box for a 5th gear as 82 models still had 4 speeds in them, im not sure if it was late 82 or early 83 when they made the 5 speed box.

I had an 83 hj60 with a 5 speed.

Also when you get up to mid 84 model they made a better 5 speed with a bigger shaft, these models had a thicker gearstick at the base instead of a thin stick from base to the thread.

i am using this gearbox for a early fj60 81 model that has a 4 speeed, dellow conversion running a 265 chrysler hemi , its is the standard 4 speed set up as normal fj60 config, i have here also a hj60 may 1984 build , i was going to part it out , however i was told by dellow be carefull as they changed gearbox mid 84 as you mentioned , they said to be carefull reason bieng they are tilted 9 degrees and i would have to buy another bell housing from them to suit , i will check the gearshift today thanks for your advice

I didnt think any gearbox had the transfer rotated? I have a BJ42, BJ74 and FJ60 5spds and they all look in the same orientation. Maybe the motor to gearbox had a slight tilt in some models?

From personal experience, dont use a fairy o/d 5spd in a cruiser that does alot of offroad work, and while you have the box out give it a full service.
Get out there!!

lol...yeah they do nothin for me.

Ive never had one or driven one but i reckon a second gearstick would be cool...like driving an old b-model Mack or something haha.

Ive never heard of it either...they all look the same to me.

Ive wrecked out heaps of hj and fj 60's and they all look the same.

i had a fj60 box in my old 60 and i now have a 75 series box behind my 12ht.

IIRC, the Dellows catalogue mentions something about transmission rotation.. Have a look in there, there might be some clues..
