Rules for Tyre Topics:
  • Tyre Topics are intended to be information sources. Both positive and negative reports are encouraged.

Tyre Topics are NOT for slanging matches. Any posts which don't contain useful information may be deleted.

Please post first hand accounts only - "my tyres" or "I saw" reports. Any "mate said" or "I heard" stories may be deleted.

Comparisons with other tyres are acceptable, if they contain first hand accounts (see above.) "Buy XXX instead" opinions (without first hand stories to back them up) are not.
An index of Tyre Topics can also be found in the Tyre Topic Index.

Wondering if anyone has used these and could give a first hand review.

Thanks

Got links? Otherwise this is simply an unsubstantiated opinion, which is what we're trying to avoid.

I drove a Sierra with them on whilst in the states. They are probably the only tyre where airing them down worsens the performance as they seem to close the tread up when they flex over objects. They are truly bizarre, noisy as hell, awful on road and don't grip, clean themselves in mud and seem to have the hardest rubber compound in the universe.

They were truly awful

sorry, it wasn't set as a tire topic when i replied, it was a simple request for how good or bad thornbirds were. mods feel free to delete the chatter.
Good point - the title said Tyre Topic, but the first post didn't contain any of the pre-amble.

Still, some links would be good if you have a few minutes to hunt them down. I've often heard that these tyres aren't highly regarded, but I've never really known what's wrong with them.
