custom exhaust 80 series what have you guys done

Post by howsie »

basically looking for ideas as i want to cut sills out and replace them with sidesteps / scrub bars. Problem is as most 80 series owners would know is that factory exhaust is on drivers side outside chassis. Cars a 93 rv 80 series cruiser. 1fz-fe 4.5ltr petrol. Manual.

You can get 100 series extractors to bolt straight on, they go down the inside of your chassis with out to much fuss...So I'm told!!!
Can anyone confirm this?

cheers, Scott

I built a 3" system fo my turbo diesel 80series. it runs between the chassis rail and the transfer case/gearbox.
it is fairly tight between the transfer case and chassis, about 10mm clearance either side of 3" pipe.

fair enough how do you go having it that close to gearbox and transfer as exhaust shops ive spoken to reckon that it'll be too much heat if its that close

I did think of that, and decided it wasnt likely to be a problem. I havent noticed any difference in the amount of heat coming into the cab.
Also figured that a lot of engine/exhaust heat passes along the transmission tunnel driving anyway.
Also 105series cruisers have the exhaust between chassis and gearbox anyway, so mr Toyota didnt think it was a problem :D
