33s or 35s for gu patrol
33s or 35s for gu patrol
Hi ... i have a 2002 4,2 td cab chassis ... im in two minds whether to put 33s or 35s for my next set of tyres ... you read a lot about guys going from 35s back to 33s and im not to sure why ... any info would be grateful ... cheers
It all depends on what you want the tyres for. Wheeling? or dailies? or both?
33's on a Patrol are still illegal as the rule states 50mm over standard size and 33's are 2 inches (50.8mm) larger tan standard.
I went for 33's as mud tyres/ road tyres for my new GQ but will be going back to 35's and a set of roadies as dailies for the next set. I miss the diff clearance off road
Cheers Adam

I've stuck with 285s (33 equiv I suppose) due to trying to keep it as legal looking as possible. I've spoken to 1 guy this week that has been pinged for running 35s on a GU ute. Has to take all the suspension and tyres out and go back over the pits, wasn't happy. This was in Ipswich QLD. He said the coppers were starting a crack down in this area.
I can't be bothered chasing up the thread, but 31" tyre's are definately NOT the largest standard tyre size on the GQ/GU patrols. I think the largest factory fitment was close to or equal to 33" (this was from a placard from a vehicle, not just hearsay).Warnie wrote:33's on a Patrol are still illegal as the rule states 50mm over standard size and 33's are 2 inches (50.8mm) larger tan standard.
I think even the pizza cutters were equal to 32".
