Lightforce Genesis
Well these suckers aren't officially released yet, but I got my hands on some today.
They look the goods too. slightly smaller than the XGT and Blitz 240's so they should fit in 99% of bull bars, they also have multiple mounting options.
The best thing of course is they finally have a spread beam spotlight
Sadly though they are only available as HID's initially, and they have no plans to have the spread beams incorporated into the XGT range. \
RRP is $620 each

They look nice ... which is the most important thing when buying spotties, right?
When are Lightforce going to help us keep our lights by coming up with a theft resistant mounting system though? I guess they like the turnover ... more sales ... but the up/down pivot bolt is just dopily easy to unscrew and take off with the light even if the mount is locked in place. The only options are the lockable nuts (which don't seem to stop thieves for long anyway) or tabs welded to the bullbar to prevent access to that bolt/nut. And at $600 a pop ... sheesh.

Why would you order something without knowing the release date, then get your knickers in a twist about not knowing the release date?bogged wrote:Mate had a set on order for over 12 mths. they could never tell him when they would be released.. so he told them to insert them in their anus and see if the light really shone..
Even more perlexing is why someone would be mates with bogged?

They've got 2500 odd in stock and although not officially released until May they're available for order/sale now
might be cause they were advertising them in the magazines for 12 months and thinking they were available until find out not released yet. and then always promised they would be released in a month or two when really they had no idea.dogbreath_48 wrote:Why would you order something without knowing the release date, then get your knickers in a twist about not knowing the release date?bogged wrote:Mate had a set on order for over 12 mths. they could never tell him when they would be released.. so he told them to insert them in their anus and see if the light really shone..

Nevertheless they look the goods - given this is the first redesigned light they've made since the XGT/HID (5yrs++?) there ought to have been a decent amount of development gone into them. They look to be a good size, too.

but yeah.. they are a great size and would have been awesome to have and look the goods
Agreed with the ease at which scum can steal these lights, I have to come up with a way to prevent mine being nicked, also, the 'traditional' lightforce lights can stick out too far on some bullbars, not a problem with my 45, but hilux bullbars come immediately to mind. Might ask the brass on AHN.Moph wrote:They look nice ... which is the most important thing when buying spotties, right?

There HID,s have come down in prices. I like them. Was never a fan of there other lights. They were having trouble with there mouldings so that is why they had a long unforseen delay. They even said they were scraping the genesis alltogether most likly to buy more time from the winges.

I love those LED light bars (Rigid Industries?) but the price!Auto-Craft wrote:Having been using LED light bars of late, and HID headlights, the driving light makers must be getting nervous about new releases these days and tooling up.
Though lets see how long before its coming from someone else looking similar.
Hopefully someone will bring out a cheaper alternative as I think they would be great. but at over $1000 for the bigger ones.......
2001 GU Patrol DX wagon, TD42, Air Lockers, twin spare carrier, Barrett HF, 35" Treps, high pinion rear, Staun beadlocks, 60l Engel and more!
I welded tabs each side so there's no way of getting a socket or wrench on them. Tighten them up nice and tight before fitting the light and there's just enough slip in them to adjust them. The mounting bolts are then drilled and padlocked under the bar.hj 45 wrote:Agreed with the ease at which scum can steal these lights, I have to come up with a way to prevent mine being nicked, also, the 'traditional' lightforce lights can stick out too far on some bullbars, not a problem with my 45, but hilux bullbars come immediately to mind. The XGTs still stick out a fair way though - about 15mm beyond the front of my bar. Don't like their chances if I hit anything...
And whats a pair of Genesis lights worth again ?A.J. wrote:I love those LED light bars (Rigid Industries?) but the price!Auto-Craft wrote:Having been using LED light bars of late, and HID headlights, the driving light makers must be getting nervous about new releases these days and tooling up.

Supercharged 80 SOLD - "OPERATION SANDY" now in effect.
i'm not disagreeing with that. but surely there comes a point where the extra couple of candle power doesn't make that much of a difference.wolfie wrote:im running hella 4000 at the moment and im all ways night drivn for work after a while if drivn night time better lights always help and you dont seem to get as tired
say if i had a decent set of HID headlights, a decent, midrange set of spotties, all the loom upgraded, will these make $1600 worth of difference?
Spit my last breath

Yeah good mate, goes great off road, still a few small issues to iron out.
Front works beautiful, too well in fact. going to have to put a limit strap on it before I tear off my new brake lines
Rear spring rates are a bit stiff on the road but I'm hoping the rear bar work, winch and extra batteries will smooth that out a bit. if not I'll play with spring rates.
Also needs a V8
