Is it using oil?

Any sign of oil in the coolant or vice versa?

Have you been running standard fuel and been experiencing pinging? It could be burnt valves.

Timing?

Timing belt?

Have you identified whether its a spark issue?

Dodgy fuel pump/regulator? Both of these will cause it to run out of puff, miss and carry on. Just throwing ideas out there.
