2L petrol Rocky

Post by RockyPilot »

Hi,
I own a 84 Rocky, 2L Petrol, 3door.
I hav not been able to find any mods for this engine anywhere.
Id like a new air filter, extractors and exhaust.
Does anyone know of a company that makes extractors for the 2L. I do not want to ship from overseas so something thats already in Australia would be great.
Thanx
Matt

Hi Matt, try going to an exhaust specialist near you and asking. You'd be surprised how many places actually make extractors in Australia- I found around 6 companies do them for the Feroza!

Try asking about Hurricane brand, I recently fitted them to my Feroza and they are really well made and gave a decent power increase. They are a 4-2-1 design which is better for torque- try and avoid any 4-1 designs.

Ya motor , if my mechanical memory serves my right, is a toyota, 2y, something like that. There is deffinatley stuff for em. My mate has extractors and exhaust (4-2-1) and webber carby. I try to catch up with him and see if it would fit in a rocky engine bay ( i got diesel, so might be a bit hard). Just ring exhaust places, someone will be able to help. Uni filter make a air filter for the rocky too. Find a shop that distributes K&N or unifilter or similar and ask them to check.
hope this helps (will try to confirm the engine)

Pacemaker don't list Daihatsu at all on their site anymore, and I know they don't do them for Ferozas. Try Emailing them and asking.

http://www.pacemaker.com.au/catalogue.htm

Some of the brands that make them for a Feroza (good chance they'll do the Rocky as well) are : Twister, Wildcat, Hurricane, Blue Flame and Genie

Here's the thread with pics of my Hurricanes: http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... hp?t=11930

Yeah, just looked it up after i sent post and realised it. Sorry. mates car is lod dodgy lux always in bits. There are deffinatley parts available for the 3y, as heaps of lux's run em. though just might need some modificaton to fit.
you could try asking the guys in the toyota section if they got any info on the engine.

This is what my dad specified when doing up my rocky's 3Y engine.

Running oversized pistons.
Blueprinted and fully balanced
Camshaft reprofiled
Weber DCNF40
Some sort of aftermarket distributor
Perry 421 extractors
Straight flow exhaust.
4Y engine block.

Beats me about the rest as i'm still discovering all the nitty gritty stuff done on my vehicle.
