also reading other posts from dgr ect. a lux front with arbs and longfields work out to be a stronger setup than a gu front end. and alot lighter. better clearence, and better suited to the smaller comp truck. patrol gear is massive and if using with a hilux chassis i reckon would be to big.
also lauries truck these days in running 37" treps with a bundera front end and hilux rear. althoug they are all crack tested and rebuild every 12 months or so. and are usually cracked in some form or another.
Laurie is going to 80 series front or maybe patrol GU front and GQ rear because the treps have so much traction that he blew his diffs.

but yes 60's are strong and i know where we could get a couple cheap todd!

but you can elimintae breakages with smart winching and driving, and being a lighter vehicle it wont be carrying as much load= less pressure on components
You could simplify this set up by buying a set of Caloffroad Chromo axles and just run the whole GU front diff. This way when something breaks you don't have a mismatch of bits to stuff around with.

Haha 30 spline axles...GQ's run bigger axles than that in their front diffs.

sorry but you made me laugh
Y60, Patrol GQ Front 1988-98 H233B,31 SPL 32.0 (1.26") 31spline
Y61, Patrol GU Front 1998 on H233B 32.0mm (1.26") 31spline
HiLux, Pickup, Hiace Front All 10 bolt, live axle 33mm (1.31") 30spline

both run 27spline stars in the cv's which are identical diameter.

you need a better set of verniers! :finger:

lux stuff will hold together on 36/37's in winch terrain... i mean FFS they use lux stuff under the formula toy rockcrawlers in the states, and winch challenges aren't anywhere near as hard on their front ends (well internals anyway, bracing will solve bending issues)

and if your ring gear and pinion are the weak links, 60 series step up the strength, there. again. can be built stronger, for cheaper than GQ/GU steer axles...
