what is the better one out of the model 3 and the model 32?
whos got what?
will be buying one in the next few weeks
will be doing 1 3/4" and 2" stuff mainly(or similar size)
bars sliders etc.
opinions?
model 3 is cheaper so what are the advantages of the mod 32?

Now doing general fab work and painting
trays, trailers, engine swaps on request, some tube work, silo section sliders, rust repairs, ute chops etc

I have a model 3 and i love it, works great. Use 1/1/2 and 1/3/4 dies.

All i know of the model 32 is that its an ' improved ' and 'revised' version of the model 3 hense its higher pricing....

my guess is the model 3 has stopped being made or will stop being made soon and be replaced with the model 32....

My experiance of my model 3 is, it works great for all my general bar work.

We have the Model 32. Its a beefed up version of the Model 3 and an excellent bit of kit.

can anyone tell me if there is an alternative source to OPW for dies and followers? I'm after a 1.5" die about 5-5.5" bend radius and looking for the best price obviously.

That was my position when I bought, but my criteria may be different to yours. I could justify it through the use it will get and the people that use it. If its just for home use then I would have thought the model 3 would be perfect and at a cheaper price.

AFAIK petes the sole dealer in aus.

Its either buy through pete or stuff around yourself importing them direct from the states.....

same dies.

Remember the model3 has been around for years as the only one available by JD2. The model 32 is only new.

The model 3 has done the job for many many ppl for many years for everything they have ever needed. model 32 is an upgraded version but both will do any bar work or cage work to suite the dies you need that you would ever want so its really up to you....

The model 32 wont do any different or better job to the model 3 as far as the final product of the bends goes as its all in the dies as to the job it will do, the model 32 has other differences....

up to you really....

Also thinking of bying a model 3 or 32 will be useing 1 1/2 pipe that is 3.2mm wall thickness or a bit thicker which would be best can the jd 3 do that wall thickness easy.

With the manual version how hard is it to use?


The hydrulic would be simpler to use but i would like to know just who has eather manual or hydrlic.

I have manual and suspect most ppl who do the work in there shed at home would as well......
It's easy to use. Like a giant ratchet but you need to make sure you bolt it down firm otherwise your asking for trouble.

If I was buying again I would probably try and find the extra for the hydro. Simply because my shed is not that big and being bolted to the floor is a pita, it always seems to be in the way.

I've got a model 32, far as I can see it's just a bit more solid, bigger pins and stuff. To bend bigger stuff ie. 52mm 3mm wall, I just put a bigger extension on the lever bar.

Saving up for the hydro set up. That will make it so much easier and I can justify the expense because I use my bender every day. Still, I'm slowly accumulating all the other cool bits and pieces too. Check out the US buggy websites for heaps of interesting toys.

If you're not sure you'll use it heaps, just get the model 3. The extra heavy duty stuff really only benefits the guys who use theirs every day for long periods of time.
