Dual fuel to straight gas.

Post by shitstormshaun »

hey guys

I recently bought a 93 Maverick running dual fuel, it doesnt start/run too well on petrol and instead of fiddling round trying to get it to work, I'm thinking of going straight gas instead. Can anyone give me an idea of whats involved? considering I'm already running gas is there that much to do/spend? I'm not too familiar with gas so any help/recommendations of mechanics around brissy would be a huge help.

cheers.

depending on the type of gas system on it already. you can just ditch the petrol side of things, and get it tuned (ignition advanced more than allowable on petrol) to suit, which will see better power and economy on gas.

if it's a really ruddimentry system on there, you won't see as much gain as a good system will show tho.

I've thought about doing this but I reckon it would kill the resale value.

there is a thread on this in the nissan section there are things you can do to make them alot happier about running LPG.
Valve clearance need to be greater to allow the vlave more seat time (the valve heats up and spends to much time off the head .. Forget the upper cyl lube thingies they dont get lube to the correct places ( or so I am told) water injection can help apparently and a few other things ..
