toyota s in general head lights switch earth and not positive and if you have wired it up wron you could have cause a bad back feed best way to find out is to undo what you have done and see if they work and also check every fuse including the ones under the bonnet as it could of cooked any fuse when it back feeds
toyota hilux= just unbreakable
Toyota Prado = THE SHOPPING TROLLEY

Start with the basics, try the tail light fuse first, then check you fuses on your headlight relay. Dashlights share the same fuse as taillights just incase you didn 't know.

Sorry just reread, I would of thought the relay would be down on the rh side of the inner guard, or up on the lh side? I know on my hilux the relay has it's own fuses which I have blown once before.

As previously mentioned, Toyota's use a negative switching system on the headlights. That is, there is constant power to the headlights, the switch is on the negative or earth side.

Do you have a 60 or 61/62 series? that is single 7" round or dual 6x4 rectangular lights?
