Best hardcore tourer model Lux

Post by mrRocky »

Sorry for the noob type question. Currently have a 100 series ifs v8 and while its awsome to drive its a bit too nice to plough through the bush and mods are limited cause of ifs. My question is in other lux owners opinions what are the best to turn into an ultra reliable semi comfortable tourer with solid axles. A late 90's dual cab with a 3ltr turbo seem to grab my attention the most, do they come with ifs or solid.
Pics would be great as the members section doesnt seem to have many.

cheers mick

For a diesel powered tourer, Id say a 02SR5 on with the TD engine and a coil sas up front.

The later SR5s have the niceties the older ones missed out on. The later the model the better the extras get. The 02-04 would have enough to keep me happy.

Kinda off topic, but seriously.... 80 series!

Tougher, better suspension, better brakes, better engines, better comfort, better.........

Unless of course you specifically want a lux.

Or even better, a 105 series.

True as it comes, why start by limiting yourself to a Hi Lux if you plan on touring and upgrades.

Most of the 80 series ive seen have been thrashed beyond belief and hilux panels and parts seem to be cheaper to replace than cruiser ones.
I have considered them, i assume the turbo deisel ones are the go ?
Do they really go better offroad than a modded lux tho.

Most equally modded 80s will walk all over modded Luxes.

The 4.5 petrol is ok too if you are not stingy re fuel costs.

Cheers
