Sierra Heater box leak. How about a Jimny box into a Sierra?

Post by BlueSuzy »

So my Suzy's heater box is slowly falling apart. Did some 30min shopping today to find when i come back to Suzy, coolant under the car...

The Coolant runs out of the box/cores, down the tunnel and through the quick release floor bung. Its been leaking for prob 6mths, but not this bad!

Main Question:

Has anyone put a jimny core/box into a sierra?

I have all parts except for wiring for the aircon.

Air tubes/piping can't be that hard to realign. And i know its definately a dash out job!

A jimny box will go into a sierra ,to get the gearstick in the same position you will need to swap the shift selectors and rear housing from a sierra 5 speed, with a little bit of machining to the rear housing which can be done with a die grinder

Air outlets on the Jimny one is different to sierra. Also water outlets are vertical through firewall. Sierra's are aligned horizontal.

For ease of installation, id just get another jimny one..

Im thinking of just getting a sierra one for mine.. But no aircon :(

Sierra's heater box size is smaller than jimny also.
