need help - landcruiser 60 clutch
hey everybody,
i could realy need some help. Unfortunetly it seems that my clutch is broken...at least i can't select any gears. The hydraulic part seems to be ok, so it's probably the clutch itself. I'm in Mooloolaba right know and as i'm traveling around with/in my landcruiser and its friday evening i'm kind of stuck here.
So if anybody could help me by telling me if there is any mechanic that's open or recommend a cheap one in the area or could even help me fix the clutch...i would be very grateful!!!
cheers
simon

hey
nobody from the maroochydore/mooloolaba area here?
forgott do give some details to the problem: i can't select any gear, so it seems that it is not disengaging. the hydraulic part of the clutch seems to be alright. what else could it be? i always thought that when the clutch goes of it would slip???
what a fuck....

I'm a bit far north to help in person (Cairns) but maybe via internet...
When you say you can't select gears, are you sure the clutch is not working? Can you select gears when the engine is off, but can't put it in gear when the engine is running?
Have you or someone else got underneath and actually seen the slave cylinder not working the clutch fork?
Very unusual for a clutch to just break, without copping some serious punishment..............
Let me know.......

thanks for your answers. it seems that it's not losing clutch fluid and the master cylinder was replaced 6 month ago. a guy from racq said, that it is not a hydraulic problem and that it's moving.
it came up from one gear selection to the next...suddenly could not select a gear anymore.
when i turn off the engine and select a gear and then turn it on again while pressing the clutch it seems to disengage slightly, because it dooes not start driving. when i let go the clutch it starts driving.
can i damage anything if i drive like this a few meters? the carpark i'm currently on is not very ideal and i would like to move it about 500 meters to another one. there is just a stupid traffic light on the way.
exactly....i can only select a gear, when the engine is off.flyology wrote:When you say you can't select gears, are you sure the clutch is not working? Can you select gears when the engine is off, but can't put it in gear when the engine is running?

i pulled the boot back and in deed there was a fairly amount of fluid coming out?! but the fluid in the cup at the master cyl is still full and the clutch fork (? the think after the slave cylinder) is moving, when you press the clutch.RAY185 wrote:Go underneath and pull the boot on the slave cyl back and see if fluid comes out. Master and slave cylinders are fairly cheap and you should have no probs doing it yourself with basic tools.
just to make sure, that i'm on the right way...
this is the slave cyl, right?

do you think it's only the slave cylinder? but the clutch fork is moving, when you press the clutch?! i thought it would not move at all, when the slave cyl is broken. i'm confused...but i realy hope you're right. that would save me a looooot money.RAY185 wrote:Yep. Replace it with a new one (cheap as chips, don't worry about trying to rebuild it) and bleed the system and you should be good to go.
if its not the slave cyl but something with the clutch can i damage anything, when i drive like this for a few 100 meters?
