I would have thought that most are made from mild steel.

just 250FMS. 3.0mm would be heaps! Just make a 5-6mm mild steel cradle for the winch, the build the bar over that with 3.0mm sheet

lol thats not only going to be strong enough, that'll be masses of extra weight on the front end.

lol thats not only going to be strong enough, that'll be masses of extra weight on the front end.
only the box section is made from that and the rest is 40nb tube it didnt feel any heavier than my old GU ARB winch bar!
if anything it felt heaps lighter :?

i use xtra form steel 400

cheap and much stronger than mild steel


also 10mm for a bullbar is way over kill.

if you are using 250 grade mild steel, i'd suggest 5mm for the cradel and 40nb heavy wall for the wings.

My ARB bar is ~3 mm box section with extra reinforcing ~3 mm thick at the winch mount area.
