gu piston problems in 3L

Post by connie1989 »

Hi I am looking at purchasing a gu and I have heard that the 3L have problems with their pistons at about 15000kms. is it just petrol or diesel?

cant decide which would be better 3L diesel or 4.8L petrol?

Some people don't deserve to own a ZD30. The engine knows this and helps the owner to change vehicles. :finger: :D :finger:

might as well buy a range rover... never thought id say that lol. seriously they fail for various reasons however i work for nissan and i would not be prepared to tempt fate by buying one. everyone claims that they have been fixed by the later stages of the Di versions.. thats why we have had 4 towed in the last 2 weeks with 0 compression on various cyls as a result of large holes. i know it always starts arguments with 3 litre owners posting like that but you have to be aware what you and your wallet might be in for. might be 300,000 kms might be 30,000 you never can tell.. it isnt a cheap fix or easy and its definately not something you want to happen when touring. unless ur handy with a spanner and keep a spare motor in the draws in the back of ur car.
Beep. Beep. Beep.. Whats that sound? Oh Look Its Just Another ZD30 On A Tow Truck.. =)

What torque? Tighten it till it strips and then back it off half a turn.
