I am having a mild family dispuit (with the old man) what i should do to the bundy.
I have a 22R with extractors and 4.3 ratio diffs. Its got over 320 000kms on the petrol but its still kicking on. I CAN'T KILL IT. I am running 33's but possibly may go to 35's later.
Can u back up your vote too if possible.

1G GTE is a straight 6 cylinder
keep going on 22R till it dies, 4.88 gears will keep it happier for a lot longer
what do you want to do with the bundy though, crawler or more the daily driver?
daily driver - 1G - GTE
crawler not sure if the 1G is suited or not

These are both the same engine. I dont know of a V6 Supercharged Toyota motor at all.
The only way you are going to see any real gains in drivability is to increase the HP and the 22R no mater how many mods is still a gutless motor. The 1g gte is a good swap. And should perform well in most conditions.

There is a V6 but its not available in Aus or Japan, its only for the US market, its available in 3L and 4Litres and is totally not relevant to this thread.
I would say keep plodding with the 22R for as long as possible, rego insurance etc. I would probably do other things like a locker, some better flex, diff gearing if that turns you on. Then put aside some cash for every day the 22R keeps on ticking, if it lasts a while, which gutless, underpowered motors tend to do, then when it finally gives up the ghost, you should have a shitload of $$ for a conversion.
soon as you start fawkin with it, its all over. Get a locker first or something!
hands and mums dont count!!!
If its mostly a Daily driver a locker isnt going to help or flex or anything else. Fitting 4.88 diffs will make it a little better but its still going to shit you to tears how slow it is. You will spend around $1200 just buying the 4.88 gears and this would be better spent on a power upgrade as after the gears you are still going to want more.
I used to own a 22R that i spent to much money on trying to get more power with very little improvements.

Yep for a DD tony is right, just up the power and up the tyres. and sell the 22R while it is still in good nic, so you cna get some $$ back.
I didnt read the DD bit, I just thought for offroad.
I spent big bucks tryin to get a diesel to go hard... dont bother.

Woops.
I have a bundy on 35s that I use as a road only car, the motor is bog stock and with 4.8's it goes like the clappers, maybe I have a good one, but I am very happy with the way mine goes, it is good on fuel and never gives me any problems.
Peter.
thats what i wanna feel like!!! if i can say that that would be enough, i figure by putting the diffs back to the original (theoretical) ratio, it will give me a guaranteed 10% increase from what it is now.

i have a 1GGZE supercharged straight six in my bundy, with 4.88's and 35's, i ll save u the heart ache, and sell u mine...........
Dont waste your time with the 22R and diffs, the 1GGZE will compensate for the diff ratios and u will b able to smoke your new 35's.....
The 5/7M series of motors r old technology, all that work for very limited gain.
The 1GGTE, twin turbo six is good up high but like any turbo it runs hotter and it not as good on take off as it needs to spool up.
My bundy is sweet down low and still very streetable .............
Cheers Daniel

Get your facts right dude
5M-GE BHP = 160@5200 max T= 155@4400
7M-GE BHP = 199@6000 Max T = 188@3600
7M-GTE BHP = 236@5600 Max T = 253@3200
1G-GZE BHP = 160@6000 Max T = 152@3600
1G is 1986 technology
7M is 1990 technology
5M is 1985 technology but hell I got one for $100 - good power to $$$ ratio
All are old motors now, chaep to buy and easy to wire !!!
