new cv drama

Post by GQSTU »

posted this earlier...

hey guys i broke my long side cv in my 1989 GQ lwb 4.2 diesel. i picked up a second hand cv & axel that they said was for a GQ but i just put my old one and the new one side by side and there is 100 mm difference between the two. i think maybe the shorter one for a MQ? my old cv & axel measured 1100 axel alone it was 915 the markings on the cv are NTN 100 AC EM5 1 the replacement cv& axel measured 1000 and is marked with NTN 100 AC DP 5. Any thoughts? could remove the cv from the smaller one and tap it the longer one with out breaking it, would fit and work the same? thanks stu

______

have now contacted seller of said item and they are telling me that they are 100 % sure that the cv has come out of a gq, can anyone offer me an explanation as to how this can be? are different year models different lengths? I thought all gq's would be the same, is this wrong? Are there differences between the leaf spring and coil spring gq's ?

please help !
thanks
stu

Theres a difference between leaf and coil, this could possibly be the cause.
