Just wondering what brand modified injector pumps youz are using. the price they are going for and do u like the new power of the pump and what areas of the rev range it is best? thanks
There is a difference between the GQ and GU pumps as well. I just had the injector pump timing tuned to the work I had done to my GU engine which was a fair bit of work. Didn't have to mod the pump at all and ended up with 187Kw at the wheels.

i had mine built at the deisel mob behind mobil in nambour josh, went from standard pump to a very capable pump. for 2400 with new injectors. ask andrew holford to hit em up for you. oh and has he given you back the lowmnt airbox yet? we ended up goin diferent route with his airbox.

I had a Garret GT42/35 top mount turbo running 20psi boost with a lot of head work done as well and ended up with 187kw and 1600nm torque at the wheels and all we did to the pump was wind up the fuel a little. Yes it was a Garret GT42/35 hybrid that was hand built by Bob Hawkins up in Townsville. The head and intake/exhaust manifolds were match ported. A high mount turbo manifold from nissan used and larger valves used as well as a custom grind cam. Bottom end was left as standard but balanced and rebuilt. Flywheel was also lightened and balanced. Running all 3inch plumbing from the snorkle to the exhaust.

Not too sure on that one. I'm pretty sure it was in 3rd (2wd) and as for the unit of measure for torque, I'll have to try and find the printout. 4th gear is 1:1 drive, 3rd is not.

Once i Modified my GU, and that was custom extractor manifold, custom design roller turbo, front mount cooler with aluminum pipes, 4" intake on turbo through a massive airbox and into a 4" snorkle... Max I could get out of my 04 model standard gu pump was 130rwkw, and that was on 2 separate dyno and that was running 24psi...
Simply had no fuel, the more i screwed in just increased the idle....
However once i put a new pump on 23psi was getting my 175 then once i had 28psi with even more fuel (a bit sooty) getting just near on 200rwkw...

To answer your original question.
Modification levels is determined by what power you want, this determines size and type of head and rotor used as well as other pump internals. Some can be noisy in combustion noise because of the amount of fuel injected.
Basically a 10mm head and rotor will supply fuel to 100rwkw using 31" tyres, 11mm to 130rwkw, 12mm in stages from 140-170-200rwkw.
Everything needs to be done to compliment that power, turbo size, i/c, air inlet system, cooling system engine.
Don't assume a pump for 200kw will make it on a stock td42t engine.

Well you may be right. I may be remembering it incorrectly and I can't find the dyno sheet to give you proof. The turbo was at full boost by 2200revs though and one thing I didn't mention before was that I also ran an electric fuel pump just prior to the injector pump to provide pressure prior to the injector pump. We found this did make a modest difference to fuel delivery. So I have what I remember and you guys have your info as well. They don't agree with each other and without proof I can't show you guys for sure so I'll leave it at this. Sorry for the side track/hijack of the tread.

You are right, it has different governor controls inside the pump. Nothing wrong with doing your own unit, just takes a little longer.
