GU LS2 Diff Ratio Selection

Hi all.

Got a 6l LS2 going into a GU manual and it currently has 4.6 diffs. Im thinking the gearing will be too low. Will be running a combination of 33's and 35's.

Anyone recommend a good starting point for diff ratios ? 4.3's 4.1's ?

i have 4.3 in mine is good with 33's going to35's soon which i think should be better again the ls2 has a lotof bottomend.. its good
gu 3 inch lift, 305 km2s, locked, winch, barwork, ls2, tourer...

I’d say 4.3 for 33s & 4.6 for 35s would be perfect. 4.3s Would be a good compromise overall. I wouldn’t go any higher than the 4.6s because you will suffer on the open roads, especially when running 33s. Try what you have got & work it out from there.

I had 4:3's on my gu ute 4.2td for 35's and they were perfect. I thought that with the 6l having a bit more grunt 4:1's would be closer. I guess ill just have to wait and see

With 35s & 4.11s you will be on about 1800rpm at 100k’s. I think that’s too low for a heavy truck. It might have more grunt than your diesel but not at 1800rpm. 2200 to 2500rpm at 100k’s would be good, the v8s like to rev.

I run 35's and 4.1's with an ls1 . Its was perfect when it was a N/A engine and its still perfect with forced induction on it. Just go with the 4.1's and if your going to use 37's go for the 4.3's or 4.6's.

i also run 4.1's on my 80 and 37's.. perfect combo if ya ask me :)

i ran 4.1 with auto and ls1 it was good combo with 35's if any thing if you need lower off road go transfer gears.

I think you will find the ls2 will have much more torque then a td42t at 1800rpm if you have a look at the power curves

@Holtrol: Here is a power curve of a LS2. Your image is somehow gone.
I think you are getting confused with ft lb and Nm.

Nm x 0.73756214837 = ft lb

max diesel torque is 400Nm = ~300 ft lb
