Triton 3.2 DiD vs 2.5 DiD

Post by baggers »

Hi all,

Having trouble finding a straight answer on this when trying to compare MN vs ML Tritons.
I drove the 3.2 in a Paj ago and was impressed, and recently the 2.5 in a Triton and also liked it, but won't have a chance to drive each back to back when looking at buying next financial year.
What engine is better on the highway, and what engine is better offroad? Peak Kw/Nm can only tell you half the story I think.

Cheers,
Jimmy

hey mate as far as the difference between the 3.2 and the 2.5's in the tritons the 2.5 uses 700ml less fuel per 100ks on the highway and has more power and torque to back it up. some other things you may be interested in is that the new tritons have active stability and traction controll where the older 3.2 will not have this safety addition.
if you have an abn and get in before the end of financial you can get a new triton cheaper than most of the secondhand 3.2 tritons.
the tray is also a small bit longer and deeper. :D

Thanks mate, yeah I'd also been reading about some carbon build up issues in the 3.2. Stability control sounds good as it's mostly for highway kays, but will have to see if the budget can stretch to a spanking new one.

Yeah pretty good value!

I'm keen on a 2 door glx, but there only seems to be 3.2's for around my budget 25k, but it seems a waste when a new 2.5 is 32k.
The only used 2.5s seem to be demonstrators too, so I might keep an eye out for some comming on the market soon.

Driven both and I believe the MN creams the ML. Power ,torque and fuel economy. The 2.5 is a more spritely engine once the lag is over with and it gets on song.
If your into 4wding a bit get a MN with a ML tub. Couta combination.
