Lack of paid up entries (Nil) this close to event. I had several phone calls to say yes we will be there, but I did not want to be let down again by some competitors saying this and not turning up, as what has happened in the past.BEAR 80 wrote:What happen to round 2 in Rocky?
Rocky costs a heap to put on and normally at this time the paid up entrants have nearly covered the set up costs etc:- Advertising, Insurance, Toilets, Slashing just to name a few. But this time I could not have paid for the fuel in my push mower.
And to be fair on the great spectator base in Rocky, I did not want to put on a weekend event with only a handful of trucks, some would have been disappointed.
So just a reminder to competitors, it is advisable to get entries in early to give event organisers a chance to put on an event.
If numbers are not there the event will not run.
By moving closer to Brisbane I will get bigger support from the NSW & SE corner competitors.
Look forward to all those CQ and NQ Competitors coming down to a new ARB XWC event area, should be fun.
Cheers

Yes the new owner (long time now) of City View is the owner of Bega Road Wreckers.biggsy wrote:Being city view, the other part of the scenic rims 4x4 park. Now I think ran by the owner of bega rd wreckers. If so looking forward to this, heard some good things about this new city view.
Steve offered me the use of his property several months ago.
Now the opportunity has arisen for me to use it.
Peter Kincade & myself looked at this property before it became City View many years ago. We both said that it had the potential to become an area to conduct a winch challenge style event, so now several years later it is going to happen.
I am now looking to cater for an entry level winch challenge competition, and with Steve's help it may become a reality.
Now before anyone says that I, David Metcalfe was not interested in running this entry style event, I state that was correct, but times have changed. If we are to move forward this must happen and regardless of what I had said all those years ago, I must change to cater for this new development in the sport.
But as I see now, the way the "Winch Challenge Scene" has developed we have priced ourselves out of the market of the new competitor. I would be one of several event organisers to be blamed for this.
So now it is time to think about having some changes, for these events to keep going.
This may be the chance to do it, lets see what Steve & myself can agree too.
But this thread is about Round 2 of the ARB XWC with classes where most anything goes (if you comply to the rules).
So Round 2 is going to be fun and I am looking forward to running an event from new in an area that has a lot of potential.
More updates after Sunday.
Cheers

They will be more then welcome depending on numbers to keep my Insurance Company happy, at the end of the day it will depend on numbers, if numbers are there they will be catered for.Mosko111 wrote:Will the polaris side x side atv's be racing at round two?
Until I get entries, no one knows.

Scenic Rim Adventure Park has nothing to do with this event. The property next door is owned by Steve and this is the property i'm assuming the competition will be run on. There is a ridge line fence that divide the two properties. There is no access to this property from Scenic Rim Adventure Park who's owners are the Harris family.biggsy wrote:Being city view, the other part of the scenic rims 4x4 park. Good luck with the competition.

Is this including camping/night or is this an additional charge to watch the events , if so is it $15 for the entire weekend or $15 per day .XTREME MMM wrote:

i thought rocky would be the big money maker for xwc round 2, the crowds get bigger every year. Will it be bak in town next year?

Yes the CQ supporters are the best around and it was one of the biggest and as you said still growing.
But this year the support from competitors in NSW & the SE corner was not there due to travel and the CQ support was under what was normal, so that is what killed it not the venue or supporters.
So if the economic climate improves, yes I will be back.
It would have been a pity to set up for a weekend of great CQ supporters with only 10 vehicles running.
3 weeks out of last years event I had 15 plus paid up entrants, this year there was nil.
So times are very tuff out there.
It will also make the competitors put their entries in early, otherwise there will be no event.
So yes, I am hoping to be back next year, same time, same place.

Re: arb xwc
HAHAHA Round 2 at rocky is awsome. Especially watching all the young blokes carrying eskies bigger than them in full of piss then watching them punch on later on in the night. lol. I would much rather watch them than watch the trucks. But I am very glad that I do not have to travel all the way to rocky which I was not going to do.XTREME MMM wrote:Shieldsy wrote:i thought rocky would be the big money maker for xwc round 2, the crowds get bigger every year. Looking at the rules my vehicle checks most of the boxes except for a cage and battery isolation. Whats a cage worth for a HJ60 these days anyone recommend me someone? Is the type of cage prescribed for this event also be suitable for other events? The 60 is a standard wagon and I would like to keep it registered as a 6 seater.
Any help is greatly apprecaited, my car is definately more tourer than comp car but i'd like to give it a go.

I'm not quitting drinking, I'm retiring at the top of my game - sporting comeback likely.
