best way to straightin a bullbar?

ok in a nutshell i baught a bullbar the other day and when i got it home i found from the side of the which cradle the the end the whole things bent in like a bitch.....

its an ARB winchbar and was wondering if anyones bent them back into shape and how?

i was thinking of fitting it and chain it to a tree and reverse and maybe heat where i want it to bend?

stupid idea?

have a crack at it but you have so many bars and frame to bend they normally throw them and buy another. its a very hard job but not impossible, good luck

Personally I'd cut it, bend it back and then weld it , flap disc it etc but thats just me.............

You are going to have to do it with an Oxy, good clamps and a heavy strong bench. Oh dont forget the big arse hammer. You may have to cut to aleviate some parts or cut out and weld in new plate if needed.

ive straightened bars by putting them on the car then getting another forby to drive slowly forwards with a snatch strap attached.
Be careful not to go to far though

you can snatch off bullbar eyelets so why is it such a shock to attach the snatch strap to the part of the bar thats bent and carefully apply weight?
If they are 8.8 high tensile bolts they shouldnt/wont break

ive straitened one on a tree before... had a bit of a binlge with a tree. So hooked it up to the tree and gave it a yank in reverse and bobs ya untie! bullbar fixed.
You've got to be either stupid, lazy enough to not use the right words or just plain crazy to use a snatch strap. use a big chain! or a tow strap.
That was an alloy bar though. Shopuld work for steel though. just need a bigger yank!
As long as the tree, the strap, and the fixing on the bullbar is all the stronger than the steel it'll work like charm!

as said above a chain and a tree or just go to a panel shop and they can use porta powers to bend em straight again

pushed up against the tree to line up the bolt holes and when all the bolts were in,,,,,,in reverse and bang it popped into shape!

Why not just find a panel shop with an aligner? If they can straighten a chassis a bull bar is easy

Myself and mates have straightened out a few bull bars at home. It always ends in a laugh as we all put our input in. The most successful way was using a front loader on a tractor. Slowly lifted the ute up at the front and used the hydrualics to slowly "bounce" it back into place. Worked ok.
