Air locker troubles
Yo,
To be honest I haven't even bad a real chance to even give the locker a good going in the time I've had it.
Yesterday, first time taking it out for a 4b in a good while.
(could possibly of been like it before yesty)
I can engage the locker and the compressor pumps up etc, when I hit the switch on It sounds like everything works right.
Hit the switch off and it sounds like it let's the air out.
But I was in a situation last night and it was all 'on' and only my front left was spinning.
Has anyone got any ideas of what it could be?
Cheers

Broken right axle?

Re: Air locker troubles
Im picking you checked your hub.
Failing that you may have a leaking air line not providing enough pressure to engage the locker or letting it leak out and release.

Get out there!!
Re: Air locker troubles
Was the compressor continually running? If so air leak, if not most likely a busted axle/CV/locking hubethann wrote: But I was in a situation last night and it was all 'on' and only my front left was spinning.

Re: Air locker troubles
The locking mechanism sometimes needs some movement to engage.
If the diff is under load it may not engage until you back off.
Same goes for being stationary, the locker might need a little movement off the diff to engage.
But if this is a constant problem there might be something else going on.
Jack up the front diff and put it on stands.
Lock the hubs, and put the transfer in 4wd, in gear.
With the locker disengaged the wheels should turn in opposite directions.
With the locker engaged you won't be able to turn the wheels.
Try that with both wheels.
This should easily show whether the locker works or not, or where to look for the problem.

Re: Air locker troubles
Yeah cheers fellas.
The compressor doesn't keep going it pump up and stops like it should and when you hit the switch off it makes the noise of letting the air out.
Hubs were defiantly locked in.
I am leaning towards a broken axle.
When I get some time I'll do what AJ said with jacking it up, Then I'll go from there.
Cheers again fellas, Will report back =)

Re: Air locker troubles
it could also be possible that when the locker was installed the locking hub was put in incorrectly, I know if the lock switch on a hilux is put in 180degrees out it won't lock properly and appear as if there is a busted CV or axle. I know as I have done it

Re: Air locker troubles
i would say cv or axel, maybe even look at the spline at the end of the axel or in the center
