Hey peoples

I rolled my patrol so i have started to pull of the old cab (wagon) and i am going to an ute cab wich it will be running an six inch lift.
I would like to put 37s on it but have been thinking if the tyres will hit the guards.
If so how much should i cut my guards out should?
Or i spend the money and get the firberglass guards?
If to get the firberglass guards where from how much are they. I am based on the sunny coast but will travel.

best thing to do is fit tyres first, flex it up, and see were they scrub. Then you know were to trim and how much ;)

This bloke is running 37s with 5 inch lift not even a 1/4 chop. 6 inch is big im going 37s and won't be going any higher than 4 inch and minimal chopping. Seriously I was told i needed 3 inch spring lift to run 33s. I put them on 20yr old sagged stockies and have been out with them and no hassle's. I'm not sure what people are trying to achieve with 6 inch lift and 35's seriously how much up travel are you chasing?

Its not always about suspension travel with a bigger lift. I ran a 6inch lift on my GU ute only for approach and rampover angles. My suspension travel wasn't much different to the 4inch lift I had before that but that extra lift did help with obstacle clearance. Well in my mind it did at least. It may have been like a placebo effect to a certain extent.

Yeah i am running the six inch for clearence over things and rock face i will try putting them on and see how i go with out cutting them it does look better not cut cheers guys

Think about the bit of plastic that runs up the front side of rear gaurds...
I run 35's under a 2'' lift with a gaurd chop and this is what gave me the most greif!. Installing rubber flares there was no really good way of cutting the guard and plastic and still have a nice finish. So, removing the plastic was the only option. I removed it too find all the panal under it was dinted and bent. But heeey, its a fourby right! Good enough for my truck but its something you might wanna look at... Might help the decision process...
(also it looks like somethings missing once its gone to... there gap along the door grows nearly 5 mm)

None at all actually. Picture's maybe, are you saying its good to chop or not good? It's good to keep it low with big rubber or you wish you had bigger springs?

This setup was 4-5 inch lift 37's or with lowered bump stops we could use 40's with no problems.

yes. but i dont see what thats got ta do with anything??? was he talken shit about me that night?? Probably spewen i cracked his head. lol (keeping in mind rob was the ONLY one to drive any of that!)

c'mooon, the plastic trim that runs up the front of the rear guards????!!! go to your gq wagon and look at the front half of the rear gaurds... theres a plastic trim. ...then everything i said will make sence.

No shit talk mate, ellis is a bitch atm. Rob didnt crack his head as they first thought. Sorry to get off topic just was looking for your build thread an noticed you posted in the trip thread an put 2 an 2 togethor about the high roof that rob had tied to him.

My 37's still scrub with 6-7" spring and 2" body lift on swb

I've cut the rear of the rear guards and at the front bent the bottom rear corners of the guards in (5 link front)

Bump stops would help but as i mainly like to play on rocks I prefer the stability (read as I can't be bothered to make them)

As for covering the tyres I've used lawn edging

Get a panel beater to fix your guards properly

If I could do it again 2-3" spring to 2" body lift (No where near as capable but way better to drive and less $$)
