Help stop my piggy rusting!

Well i found some rust ... surprise, surprise.

I can't afford to fix it properly straight up (its not really that bad) and won't be registering it for about a year. So I'm parking it up undercover but want to know what the best form of rust protection is? I hear fish oil? others say to spray some special aircraft corrosion preventive out of a pressure pack can? I'm thinking more along the lines of a sacrificial anode or electronic rust prevention??? - My uncle had a 45 as a daily, he used to spray diesel underneath it (used it in salt water, left outside etc.) and that thing was in rust free condition up until he sold 2-3 years ago.

Any thoughts on what works?

I have read that Surf Lifesaving Clubs were using electronic rust prevention on their 4wds that ran on the beach all day, at the time it seemed to be successful, and you can move this product onto your next project when the time comes

if it has rust already nothing you can to stop it getting worse other than deal with it now. Other stuff like the electronic rust preventers or Lanolin or Fish Oil etc stop the chances of new rust developing but wont stop the existing rust from spreading. All you can do is cut it out, grind it off or treat it now before it gets too bad

From personal experience forget the electronic rust prevention. I had 2 ERPS units on our Pathfinder and both units failed in like 2 months each. They just don't seem to be reliable.

Give it a wire brushing get some wurth rust converter put it on and paint it the next day will slow it down if you keep it out of the weather till you can afford to get it cut out.

Sacraficial anode - bolting the 55 to an early alpha or lancia should do the trick.

really? Surely as long as they're electrically connected (ie earthed) then it'd work?

I work on a ship and have crawled through my fair share of ballast tanks, pinched this explanation off the internet though, explains it a bit more concisely than I can.

For this mode of corrosion protection to function there must be simultaneously present an electron pathway between the anode and the metal to be protected (e.g., a wire or direct contact) and an ion pathway between the anode and the metal to be protected (e.g., water or moist soil) to form a closed circuit; thus simply bolting a piece of active metal such as zinc to a less active metal, such as mild steel, in air will not furnish any protection
