The Team at Snake appear to be running away with it... Great lines and awesome control!
Rhett is working hard to reel them in now after a nap on the first stage...
Rockrash has been battling but still in it despite his fibreglass hood looking well used!

I'm on the hunt for photos now!

Looked to me like Matt in Snake buggy had it in the bag.

Some pics of Stage 2 near spectator area.

A lot of panel damage!!! Feel sorry for the Mog boys, that would have hurt, possibly more than seeing the Mog afterwards.

Most didn't even make it around the first course. From what I could work out the 2 that finished only drove 2 courses.

Well Ive made it home. The trailer can wait a day to get unloaded. The Dunk boys in the Snake buggy took it out with ease, they had nearly a hour lead after the first track (it was long, I used 20+ litres of fuel in a 1.3l motor in the one track) Its hard to tell who came second Dave Camp was doing alright till he looked at his chassie before the night run and found a few cracks, and didn't want to risk it(soft, cough :finger: ) Justin in the orange two seater was up there with the times as well, doing great on none stickys. He finished all tracks bar the last 150m of the night stage. I finished every thing (even crampys climb, unassisted, without jumper cables, with a flat tire at night :finger: ) I wouldn't say I was fast at anything but I finished them. But the snake boys were both fast and clean congradulations  . This morning a couple of us went back up the creek for a drive there should be photos of some of the stuff none of the spectators got to see up soon.
Cheers Rhett.

Matt done crampys climb fairly easyly, although he did winch for a metre or two about 2/3rds of the way up. I think he only done this to make me feel better about losing to someone with road tires on.

after speaking to wendy and corrine on sunday night, i can assure you that the scenic rim team have learnt from this first event. The propsed ideas to eliminate a lot of the need for bunting sound great, and the difficulties in organisation will be addressed. So from what I have been told, the team will be doing everything they can to make the event run smoothly and iron out any bugs from the first event. Cant wait for November!!!

I was one of a few non competitors to walk up to the end of the main track and I have to take my hat off to the guys who drove this creek.

I haven't seen such big drop offs and technically hard big drop offs.

We are going to be hearing a lot about this track. It is harder then Cal's creek.

Brenden YOU NEED TO TAKE A REALITY CHECK!!!!

There are only two reasons I am here to tell the tale

Reason one; Good Luck
Reason two; Good safety gear on the MOG

It was only Good Luck that the tree stopped the mog from rolling 300 plus metres down the hill on to the camp site

It was only the Good safety gear on the MOG that saved me from serious injury
75 mm 5 point race harness properly adjusted, Window nets fixed independent of the doors Good race seats, Full exocage that exceeds CCDA specs,

At the drivers briefing you told the drivers to be careful around the high tracks because of the risk of rollovers your words I think (it’s a long way to the bottom) and what do you do? Take the course straight off one of the top tracks down a 35 degree slope above the campsite 35 degrees is not Hard in any ones books but at 300 odd metres up it is Dangerous there is a big difference between Hard and Dangerous before anyone gets on here and tells me Unimogs are nose heavy they are not! Straight off the spec sheet traverse angle on a side slope: 42 degrees approach angle: 45 degrees departure angle: 46 degrees and I have driven much more than that in Hard situations but not as Dangerous
Scrutineering What a Joke and I quote your words not mine Drivers you have all been in other comps tick the boxes and hand it back to me Is it easy ? YES! Is it right? NO!
People’s lives are at risk here!
I have the King of the Rim Rules and Regulations Doc 10215 27.5.2010 they all looks very professional
Communications UHF Ch 14 the navi called for at least 5 minutes before any response we could hear talking but not to us we tried on both channel UHF Ch 14 and UHF Ch 13 eventually Brenden you did arrive just you no recovery gear and yes you did manage get us some water up here when the recovery guys did arrive they only had their own recovery gear and they did a good job with what they had they had no back up gear from Scenic Rim Adventure Park
I see under service providers
Police will assist with crowd control (I haven’t seen a policeman yet) St Johns Ambulance will be driver and spectator medicial supervisors. (I haven’t seen a St Johns Ambulance person yet let alone been accessed) by the way thanks to all the people who asked how I was it was appreciated
In summing up if my truck had rolled all the way down the hill I would almost certainly be DEAD! And if it had landed on innocent campers they would definitely be DEAD! It is all very well to have the Rules and Regulations all nicely printed up for the insurance company but it’s not worth the paper it’s written on if it not put into practice! As a competitor I realize as in any form of motor sport there are risks involved DEATH should not be one these.

Brenden I know you won’t like what I have said and some of the other drivers won’t like it as well but the last thing the 4WD competition scene need is a death or serious injury Unless there are some serious safety issues are addressed at Scenic Rim Adventure Park there WILL be a death there it won’t be me because I’ll never set foot there again I could bring up some other things that were going on but this is most probably enough to get me banned from outer limit for life but if it saves one other 4x4 driver it will be worth it. like I said in the beginning

Some very good points you have raised. I was in the GU that helped from the "LOGAN DISTRICTS 4WD CLUB" and yes we only had the recovery gear I own and some of the gear from our club. And whilst we as a club can only provide so much help I agree that at an event like this with so much going on I think recoveries need to be taken care of in a different fashion. It was a hard slog to get you guys out and a big thanks to Chris Ieresel and Brett Long from the club for helping as well. It's a shame if you won't come back if they do it again as I like watching the MOG. I am glad to hear you got home safe and I hope your back is feeling better.

Thanks Deon Chris and Brett for all your help from what the navi tells me it was a massive job getting the mog down I will shout you a drink next time
I could see what needed doing but man I was flat out standing honestly I couldn't remember any names of the guys who helped I do remember someone putting diesel in the chainsaw
at the moment I'm just happy to be alive and walking when I got out of the doctors I just went and brought a $50 lottery ticket and wrote
LUCKY MOG BACK PAL on the back of the ticket
I may well change my mind and come back when I've calmed down a bit but only if there are some serious safety issues are addressed

Do you realize if someone dies at Scenic Rim Adventure Park it will get shut down for sure and then where are you going to wheel

From a spectator point of view it was very average. Had I not known anyone there I doubt I would have hung around for more than an hour. In the first 2 hours I was there we got to see maybe 4 cars for a very short period of time. And most that dissapeared never came back.

There needs to be more spectator areas. One is not enough. Especially when its in an area that has very little if any action going on. I went out to see some of Australias toughest rigs drive Australias Toughest courses and all we got to see them drive was some very mild man made obsticals and some old mine truck tyres and most of them just drove around them because they could.

There NEEDS to be toilets at the spectator area. Not all the way back down near the front gate. For me this was no issue but it was a long walk for the ladies.

You need someone on the mic that actually has some idea on the event and its competitors and what is happening out on course. (No offence ment to the Offroad Cartell boys you did a great job but it appeared you really had very little info to go on)

I could go on but I wont.

Did I enjoy myself out there? Yes.
Was it worth the entry fee and walk to the spectator area? No.
Do I think this event or style of event has potetial? Yes.

PS, How am I ? the backs a bit sore the doc checked it out and it seems OK
The Mog damage front axle, gearbox, all 4 wheels bent, race seat .
HINT before you spend your money on that new chrome moly CV spend some money on a pair of 75 mm 5 point race harness's and good race seats and you to could walk away
Now this has just gone too far! Brenden has opened this park, given us somewhere to drive, and events to compete in. He is constantly learning, progressing and improving in each of these aspects. He has been ever so helpful and approachable whenever we have proposed ideas or issues, and learns from our feedback. But then to cop something like this, surely is going to make him wonder why he is bothering!

Firstly Geoff, you too mate need to have a reality check! Does it ever make you wonder why your vehicle does stand up on the front, when no-one else has any issues? It is pretty obvious to everyone that YES, the mog is front heavy. The area in which your vehicle rolled, did not arise any concern for any other competitor in the field. When setting up the tracks, no-one would have considered the track to be of any safety issue. It was not a high-risk roll over point by any means! So it definately wasn't a lack of care from Brenden's part.

In all seriousness, it was probably lucky for the competition that you didn't make it to the creek... The fact that you did not bother to go assess the creek, after being warned before the event, shows a lack of concern for your own safety anyways. If you had of made it to the creek, we probably would have had a repeat of TT09 where the mog would have deemed the track impassable. If you think that drop was bad, you should have seen some of the ledges that followed!!!

Also, why go running your mouth about Brenden's safety issues with tracks up the top of hills, when you are behind TT. Heartbreak Ridge and Jaw Breaker pose greater risks and higher chances of roll over, and they are also up in the hills.

I understand that you are upset about damaging your vehicle, and having a scare, but these sort of public sprayings don't do any good to the sport. I am not one to direct my opinions towards individuals, but this is just too far. You might have already done enough damage, to ruin what is our favourite place to go wheeling, and compete in some fun events. I hope your little rant has helped you ease any embarrassment. But seriously mate, if you can't hack the pace, don't come race.

Regards Brett & Mitch
