Hi,
I have a GQ Td42 with a denco turbo and manifold running the genuine nissan GQ gaskets (head to manifold) Running between 18psi and 20pis of boost & i have been having troubles with blowing gaskets.
Has anyone else had this problem before?
I have noticed that the sealiing surface is pretty small matching the exhuast port size and the exhaust maniflod. I have been told by a guy to run TD27 gaskets and cut them to suit. Does anyone know it this it true?

i woudl take the manifold off and have it machined flat. its probably warped and/or not level.

I have given that a go..
May i may need to get the head done as well. I just didn't want to put the head off unless i absolutely had too.

Get a genuine nissan gasket and check clerance between head and manifold before you tighten it all up. I found on mine that the gap between the 2 was to big from being machined too many times in its life. So I removed everything and ground the brackt down a bit to reduce the distance from the manifold to the head. Whacked it togetther with genuine gasket and shes all sweet. I used a little high temp silicone aswell. hope this helps.

hey mate im having the exact same problem ive tried gen and non gen gaskets seem to not leak for a week then they start leaking a mate of mine who worked at nissan for a few year reckon dont use any sealant just spray them with hymaler (dont know how to spell it) and tighten them as much as possible.

im not sure how your turbo is set up but on my old mk i had 3.3 turbo and it kept blowing out gaskets aswell i found there was a bracket that bolted from the turbo to the engine block this was causing the top edge of the exhaust manifold to pull away from the head so that made it easy for it to blow out so i left that bracket unbolted and all was good, you probly dont have this bracket but its worth a look

have had the same problem and have tried every thing mentioned above.....
I have stainless steel sched 10 extractors which makes it worse as stainless moves more with heat.
The only way i could get it to hold when running high boost was to get custom 'ringed' gaskets made from a graphite stainless steel composite.
The ring sits on the inside of the gasket and stops any 'blow through'.
I have the PDF file that matches the port if you need it, anyone can make it from that.
A set cost about 90 bucks from memory.
The other thing that has helped is installing spacers between the manifold and the nut on the stud. This allows the stud to stretch and allow movement with heat and still seal.

when I first turboed mine I had problems with blowning out gaskets then I had a look at a tb42 gasket and found that they have like twice the sealing area that the td42 gaskets have so I put a tb42 gasket on and havent had any trouble since
