1)are the engines exactly the same ie same model etc
2)do you have injector pulse?
3)do you have power to one side of the injectors and one wire to the coil?
4)double check all plugs!!!

ok well the 97 runs completely different computer system
ie hot wire maf has a different loom and i believe different injectors and computer they have more power as well

if you have all the parts to run the new style computer
ie engine loom, computer, airflow sensor and all engine wiring you may be able to integrate it into your existing body loom
if you dont just forget it
and swap the injectors and wiring off your old motor and run the old efi set up
you cannot with out modification run the new computer with your old loom or visa versa

Hmm righto, I was only speculating on the 97 model as I thought the bloke I bought it off had a 40th anniversary model but I could be wrong, so far everything has plugged straight in but there is spare plugs but from I can remember there was spare plugs When I was taking the old motor out( it has been a while between the one going out and the new one going back in)
I'll find out exactly what year it is for a start

What runs the spark in those. I remember a guy on here I think who couldn't get his motor to fire (not sure if original or V8 conversion) but he had intermittent spark and after chasing heaps of stuff realised the igniter or coil or similar was not bolrted down just sitting in bay and not earthing correctly. However I think you need to follow Jonathans advice first and get all the original wiring under control and take it from there.

They earth out by the bracket they bolt on with. It needs to be a good connection. Pays to bolt em down. How do I know, chased this problem for a few weeks myself b4 finding it by chance
