On a full bodied patrol for handling i would recommend tough dog any day over rancho.
Positive- Rancho i cant remember a warranty since 2002.
negative -Tough dog i have forgotten and sick of the amount of problems.

Still i do not recommend rancho shocks on a patrol as they are not a big enough shock to properly dampen the suspension.

But i am not one for having a boat ride on the road, some people prefer their vehicle to handle like a boat, if you are like this then rancho will be a better choice.

I have heard of alot of people having problems with tough dog shocks but I must say they have been great for me, I have been running these shocks for years in 6 and 7inch lifts, one in a gu ute and now in a gu wagon. maybe i have just had a lucky run but they have been great, very soft and very hard when set

shouldnt be any reason for a tuff dog to fall apart. Poor setup can cause the shocks to bind and bend which then causes them to leak.
