30 spline 4340 cromeo cv for gu diff.
I have a question for everyone?????????
Most people know what dirty thirty cv are for toyotas , what would you say if I told you I can do a 30 spline cromo cv and axles for gu.Increased strengh and turning circle. And also say that they will have a replacement warranty if you brake it. You will need to use drive flanges that same style as hiluxs use , because the spline will be to big to use your standard free wheeling hubs. You will need to buy a conversion kit to fit this unit to your car. Now standard Nissan ntn cv are about 400 per side. My upgrade kit will cost you about 1100 per side, so 2200 for a full set up. But you will never have to replace a cv again. If I get enough interest I can have these in production as early as next week. If you need them fitted this can be aranged for an extra 500. We are also coming up with a floating axle kit for the rear. Just like a cruiser has but more like a drag car set up full floater with splined hubs. Please post your replys so I can look into producing them. These will be stronger than cal cv that you can only buy for GQs.... Thank you for your time.

I can't believe there has been no interest in this.
If I still had GU diffs I would have bought some for sure. This sort of upgrade with a decent warrenty should be a winner. The reason I never bought Cal Offroad ones was because there was no real warrenty.
Cheers Mick.

Re: 30 spline 4340 cromeo cv for gu diff.
I am running cal cv s and superior billet hubs in my gu race truck, have had no problem with them as yet , but i run standard gu axles in the rear which i often twist and brake! could you please explain your rear end set up in a bit more detail as i am looking for a stronger rear axle set up over standard? or do you manufacture stronger replacement rear axles? I am running 37 inch tyres with over 500 rwhspwr competing in outback style events! Cheers

I just put GU diffs in my Jeep. Planning to run 40-44" tires (what ever i get for a good price).
Would only be interested in these AFTER I break the stock CVs/shafts. I am unsure how strong GU axles are exactly and I weigh about 1,800kg. But If you think breakage is highly likely then there is the answer...

also have you done any testing against CALOFFROAD CVs to prove they are stronger?? If so any chance of seeing this data??

hey chris
Im interested, have you run these CV's yet? Are you going to supply the drive flange in your kit or is that seperate?
I might give you a call tomorow.

Re: 30 spline 4340 cromeo cv for gu diff.
Chris you would be better off running Toyota FW hubs with the upgraded Longfield Hub gear. Most guys with GUs are not going to want to run around with the CVs constantly turning. I beleive the 100 series Hubs are also the same bolt pattern and size as the nissan which means you only need to make a spacer.
Re: 30 spline 4340 cromeo cv for gu diff.
I used to break axles all the time in my duel cab patrol running 42s but being a lighter 4wd then mine you might not have as many breakages as I did. 44 might be pushing them though.lukethedork wrote:I just put GU diffs in my Jeep. Planning to run 40-44" tires (what ever i get for a good price).

I don't think I ever actually broke a CV though it was always the axle and it usually broke off right in the middle of the CV.

Re: 30 spline 4340 cromeo cv for gu diff.
Definitely be interested in them, both front and rear. As said above, only when I break what I have. Have already broken a front axle previously.
What "modifications are/will be required to get the front and rear to fit.
I would only be interested in the front if the free-wheeling hub can be utilized.

Re: 30 spline 4340 cromeo cv for gu diff.
i think solid axle makes a full floater kit for the rear .
will you also be making these axles and cv.s for gq front ends ?

The following photos are from my GU for reference. Are you going to make new, custom, inner axles with 31 splines on the inside to fit with the diff planet gears (air lockers).?
Also the Dirty 30's break at 8500 ft-lbs of torque from testing.

Re: 30 spline 4340 cromeo cv for gu diff.
nice though chris, but i can't see there being a big enough market to warrant that sort of outlay, sadly. Been down this road, know exactly how to do it for the right money, BUT nissan guys will not put toyota parts in their rigs!
Honestly it is far more cost effective to sell complete modded 60 series diffs ready to bolt in.
eg: a stock 60s diff <$300, then cut it stretch it to GQ/GU width and add associated braketry (buddy would do a nice job of this for you ) ~$600, Custom length longfield inners and 30spline cv's and drive flanges ~$1150 landed ($855USD +freight). Stronger final product, but with still more upgrades available, like 25mm or bushed style kingpins (~50% stronger than OE nissan), endless options of highsteer setups. Also you will have far better geometry as the kingpin inclination angle is better in toyotas which allow for greater deviation in castor before the dreaded nissan wobbles!
IMO just use welded or ringed cv's and upgrade the locking hubs and just drive it.

Re: 30 spline 4340 cromeo cv for gu diff.
I think it's a great idea especially for those of us with custom housings and suspension set ups ,that don t want or need to swap whole diffs over , and can't find a strong enough after market axle replacement. I see alot of GU patrols twisting and braking rear axles. If anyone knows of a better idea for the rear of my truck without swapping housings, I would appreciate the feedback!

Would the larger H260 rear diff be a good option? Those axle shafts are enormous!

Looking to swap to GU diffs later in the year for extra strength. When ive done that ill be keen....
Pitty you cant do something GQ and upgrade the stub axle and locking hub to GU in your kit so they fit, as i know you may get your interest in doing this.... Obsiously the CV would have to be GQ size due to GU being to large to fit...

Re: 30 spline 4340 cromeo cv for gu diff.
If you want it to be strong dont waste time with gu/gq stuff , just put a set of solids under it and forget about it . You can run with either free wheeling hubs or drive flanges and they are just about bullet proof . And if you cost out what it takes to go from gq to gu then put all the half decent stuff in them to make them last a little while they are comparativly cheep .

Re: 30 spline 4340 cromeo cv for gu diff.
Any furthur details on this, as am looking for an Something stronger than standard GU as keep breaking the CV outer axle, and don't want to go through the work of bracing, rolling and shaving a GQ front diff to fit Cals (Is it true or just hear say that GU Cals are weaker to GQ Cals???)

Wouldnt be easier to just make cv & axle out of 4340 unstead of 4140, as is the case with Cals?
