turbo to suit a diesel gq

Post by Duff »

Im thinking of turboing my diesel gq but dont know which turbo would suit as there are soo many different ones that i can use. The plan is to find a turbo (that fits) and get me mate to install it. Im not after alot of power but more of reliability and minimal turbo lag so i was thinking some small ball bearing turbo that would spool up fast. can any one help?

Dont mean to hijack your thread - Its a question related to your turbo query as well.

Do the 3litre patrol turbos work well on a 4.2 - or are they too smallish??

ball bearing vl turbo.

a mate just put one on his 60 series, and that thing winds up real low
works excellently and sounds great too
cant remeber the exact figures something like 6psi at 2000rpm
he has the waste gate capping it at 8psi, but thats cause he doesnt want to blow his engine apart just for the sake of having more boost.
all you can hear now is shhhhhh over the diesel.

My Safari Intercooled gives me about 10 at 2000.

Fuel is the killer not boost.

Simpl expan no frills

More fuel, more power, more heat. (more soot) more damage if egt gets over the top.
Rich diesel runs hot. richpetrol runs cold.

Add more air, add more fuel goes even better

I have one, I'll swap for a DTS or ATX system if anyone is intersted, want to see if thats my overheating issue. Also makes fitting AW's intercooler a piece of piss

But Mark used to work ARB sth, had 20psi@3000 on his Denco system
