Earth Lead

Post by greg »

Hi All,

Just wondering where the main earth lead should bridge between on an 88 Sierra?

I want to know about the one from the chassis to the engine, and the body to the battery.

Thanks,
Greg

On mine - The Battery to the body is about 200mm long and is connected to the shortest possible path to the firewall.

Engine Neg I think comes from the ??? Damn I forgot now. Try around the back of the dizzy housing to the firewall.

cheers

On my old 85 there was a thin wire from the batt to the firewall and the thick wire from the batt to one of the bolts holding the starter on

I replaced the wire from the battery to the firewall with much heavier stuff (about the same sort of size as the battery cable) There is also the factory wire from the battery to the block (on the intake manifold I think) There is another that I replaced that was quite fine wire (like speaker wire) with heavier stuff from the back of the distriubter to the firewall ....

Other than that .. I think I added one for the body to the chassis ...

my 85 is same as described above. I did run massive cables to my amp and firewall.
I used 120mm square flexable cable.
I priced it at some stupid amount, but got it free from work.

I had probs with that blue and white powders collecting and destroying terminals, due to ellectrolosis or whatever they call it. vasso helped get a better connection and stop it.

if ur car has stock electrics then obviously the stock wire is ok. big amps cause trouble though.

I am rambling with crap again. sorry my bad.
