buying a patrol, please help
Re: buying a patrol, please help
All spec variants of the cab chassis Patrols are available with coil of leaf rear end, but for offroad work, the coils are definately a better option. Lots more aftermarket gear for coil rear ends too.
As for whats different, did you look on the Nissan website?

I'm no expert but i own a GU ST Ute and have had 3 Patrol ute's as company cars both ST and DX.
The biggest difference between the two is internal cosmetics and a coil rear or leaf rear.
ST Ute-
All have coil rears, 2 seater (buckets), centre console, carpet floor, power windows, central locking, small overhead console with map reading lights and sun glasses holder,
dual fuel tanks, Factory CD player that isn't much chop
DX Ute-
A mix between leaf or coil rear, 2&half seats no centre console, Vinyl floor, no power windows or overhead console, I'm not 100% about dual tanks. It's really just a base
model.
The ST is a bit nicer inside and the centre console is handy make sure you get the full coil cab and the 4.2 turbo diesel the N/a 4.2's is lacking in power and a bit slugish but at the end of the day the only difference between the models other then coils is only cosmetics.
Just as a guide i brought my 2001 ST ute 8 months ago 4.2TD, 120k's with books, bullbar, uhf, dual batterys, alloy tray with tool boxes, I paid $19,000 for it, Good luck
