4runner cab swap or cut into dual cab ute.
need some firm and honest advice. i have a rv6 4runner that im getting abit bored with. im trying to sell it for $6000ish to buy a dual cab hilux.
but the other day i had a thought why not cut it?.
i like my set up iv got so its kinda practical. i know its ifs but its got all snake racing gear under it that cost around $4000 2 years ago and it does go realy good.
.
my other option is to buy a naked dual cab hilux body which iv priced at $950 from a wreckers and just swap the cabs and stuff (which i know will be a big job but should be alot cheaper then a ute cut).
im not to worried about the time to do it im not in a hurry.
.
on that note would a dual cab body bolt straight up or not? and with modplating or engineering what would be easiest to pass?
.
any way. looking for pros and cons so any advice will be apreciated

Re: 4runner cab swap or cut into dual cab ute.
the 4runner is a shorter wheelbase than a dual cab hilux for starters, which means the rear tyres are going to start about half way through the rear doors, or with extensive mods to the ute cab you could..
Would be cheaper & quicker to sell and buy a ute than banging your head on the wall for hours trying to make it work.
Just my 2c

Re: 4runner cab swap or cut into dual cab ute.
To be honest mate, sell it and buy a solid axle front dual cab ute.
Its saving you money already, as after the ute chop, you will then want to be more capable off-road.
A drive in drive out SAS from a reputable 4wd specialist is $7k down here and you have to supply the front diff.
Also then you have to get the chop and the SAS engineered.
All the custom parts you have to make/modify to fit.
Also if you roll your car, you have to do the chop all over again on another car.
Cheers

Re: 4runner cab swap or cut into dual cab ute.
If you were to put the dual cab on the 4runner chassis you will have to extend the wheel base so the tyres won't hit the cab.
If i was in your position i would buy an IFS dual cab and swap your lift and accessories over.
In saying that, the photchop that you have done looks cool and if you have the skills it would probably be the cheapest option.
