Tyre Topic- Trepador Radials vs mt MTZ

Post by JAFO74 »

Yes I have done a search but cannot find wot I am after.
Rito its time for new rubber, GQ 6" lift, tube bars F + R High Mount, Fridge all the time (just to give an idea of weight)
Am currently running Cooper STT previous pattern, have got 18000kms out of them. I drive about 8kms a day and try to play once a month, when playing am more than happy to wedge the loud pedal down, rev limiters were made for a reason rite. Play on rocks as well as mud. Don't really do more than 10000kms a year.
I have narrowed it down to these two and am after the general feel of peoples experiences with either or both, have read that MTZ chip easily and wear badly, haven't really heard that much about the treps.
Please help me decide as I am stuck, they are both around the $400 mark which makes it even harder.
Thanks in advance

You need to shop some where else treps are heaps cheaper than MTZs, 35s start at $310.
Nitto Mud Grapplers, Lockrite, 4.3s, Trail Ready BL, PTO, High pinion rear,Gu diff with Buds Customs armour and heaps of Superior gear, 24% Reduction .

The MTZs seem to have a weak sidewall in our experience and don't impress big time in the mud.

Don't know about the treps.

This is my opinion and experience on the MTZ and I am not bagging them, just putting forward what I have seen.

Cheers

i have used both of these tyres ( both in 35 inch ) and prefer the mtz but depending on what you drive on more commonly it would be a different story so give us an idea of how muchroad driving , rock driving , mud driving you do and what sort of milage you expect and i will give you a better opinion .

MTZ really are a great tyre and have run them against a range of muddies but not the trepador.

Any difference in price could easily be offset by increased mileage of one brand over the other. What sort of life span are people getting with the trepadors?

I suspect MTz will come out on top.

Think im on my 4th set getting atleast 80 000 km doing touring type miles on a heavy loaded patrol. Cape, desert, shooting trips Start flogging them every wknd offroad and this will fall of course. Great on and offroad.
